Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan) is one of the most stunning and unique nature views in the world. Enormously tall pillars (more than 200m) spreading over a huge area. This can’t be seen anywhere else. They are amazing as viewed from vista points. Yet the real awe is seeing the views while flying over them - with a drone. I captured with my drone (4K) views from angles never seen before! Exclusive footage not available anywhere else!
Zhangjiajie inspired the "floating mountains” of Avatar the movie. It is one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

This place looks amazing, but I call bs on the inspiration for floating mountains for Avatar. There is a video game called Final Fantasy 11, and in it there is a zone that is a near a perfect replica of the mountains depicted in the film. The game came out in 2001 and the expansion that included the area came out in 2004, several years before Avatar was released. Its possible that the makers of the game got their inspiration from a place like this, but the concept of making them float was completely their idea, and was stolen by the makers of the movie Avatar

Miki Sivan, of course i enjoyed it. I would like to go there, too. Maybe when this pandemic is over. Can you give me idea as to how to avail a tour?
@mikisivan
@mikisivan 3 жыл бұрын
@@mfrancisco4242 Well, I don't know where you are located, but I guess there would be some re-opened travel agencies around you who arrange such tours. If you are a more experienced traveler, a better option for you would be to find and book online a LOCAL tour in China, in a language that you can understand, a tour starting from a major city (to which you will arrive by yourself from overseas and get picked up from the airport by the tour company). If you know Chinese or can travel with someone who can speak Chinese - it will greatly help you. Hopefully travel restrictions will ease soon, once the vaccine(s) are available

The towers were created over millions of years through a process of physical weathering and erosion. Here's a simplified explanation: Formation of the Landscape: The landscape in Zhangjiajie initially formed through geological activity over hundreds of millions of years ago. The region was originally under a large body of water, which led to the deposition of sediment layers composed of dolomite and sandstone. Uplift: Tectonic activity caused an uplift of this sedimentary rock. The intense pressure and heat also transformed some of the original deposits into harder quartz sandstone. Weathering and Erosion: Over the ages, weathering and erosion shaped these uplifted regions. The quartz sandstone is very resistant to weathering, but any cracks or faults in the rock provided an avenue for water to infiltrate. Expansion and Contraction: Freeze-thaw cycles, where water seeps into the cracks and then freezes, contributed significantly to the weathering process. When water freezes, it expands, exerting pressure on the surrounding rock. This repeated expansion and contraction causes the rock to crack and break apart. Creation of the Towers: Over time, this process resulted in the unique towering structures seen today. The pillars are what remain of the original plateaus and mesas, where the rock was most resistant to the forces of erosion.
