Zheng Haozhong specializes in portrait painting, often using close acquaintances as his subjects to find traces of "self" expression through others. His studio is not only his workspace but also a source of inspiration. The studio often serves as the backdrop in his paintings, with the windows on its walls symbolically dividing the interior and exterior, representing his gateway to the world. Additionally, his ongoing practice of playing the saxophone seems to gradually incorporate the performative nature of music into his painting language.
