how to fix smooth q not connecting to zy play app after updating on iPhone?
@TravisMThompson5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes enabling then disabling airplane mode will work in most devices. You could also try deleting it from recognized devices then connect it as a new device. Hope that helps.

I'm looking for instruction on what to do right out of the box. Plug the usb into your computer and how do I update firmware on the Gimbal?, how do i get software on phone/GoPro? How do I just start?
@TravisMThompson6 жыл бұрын
Just start....Clip in phone, adjust balance and press power. I always update firmware but that's up to the user. Apps are in their respective stores but not required to use the gimbal. Hope that helped. Happy filming!

Tell me please how do you record 4 or 5 hours on a phone. Even after uninstalling most app's and what not I still only have 2.5gb space. I have large ad card but I can't set it for default . Any suggestions are appreciated.
@TravisMThompson4 жыл бұрын
Wow that's a long time. Some phones software prevents this to avoid overheating. Especially at 4K. I usually start and stop before an hour is up.

So did you end up using the tactical grip glove with the smooth q?? Photo of the result?

And have just placed my order for one...it will improve the grip for sure....

Hey Michael I added the link to the description if you want to pick one up from Amazon and give it a try. I haven't had to use mine yet but can confirm it fits and is comfortable. Probably not worth making a whole video on but thanks for reminding me to comment on it. ;-) Happy Filming Travis

Very through! If I had seen this last night, I would have been up and running a lot quicker! Would like to see something like "how did I get that shot" ... show the shot then show you getting that shot. I have been doing real estate videos and want to know more about getting the right angle and making smooth turns and editing.

If I had a crew to film me I would love to make some videos like that. Unfortunately it's just me and so hard to capture correctly using a tripod. Anyone wanna Collab? 😀

Hi! New owner of the Smooth Q gimbel. My concern is connecting the gimbel to my cell phone whilst recording (a great potential feature of this unit!). I am wanting to be able to connect my iphone 7plus to the stabilizer battery while I am recording. My phone is not a seemingly large or cumbersome phone. I have the arm extended in the back all the way out; removed my cell case for weight; because my charging port on my iphone is central to the phone, the gimbel bracket apparatus covers this area when the phone is inserted all the way in and seated. Thus, I have purchased a 90 degree angle lightning connector on a relatively short cord for this purpose. When I have this cord attached, it of course kicks the phone out a bit, and just enough to make the gimbel really work hard to hold balance. It will hold it correctly, then go through a repetitive cycle of dropping it a bit. Not good. I am contemplating buying another 90 degree that has a bit shorter angle to it so that the phone can be inserted a tiny bit more and maybe it will work? Have you had any issues with this? I wish that they would have allowed for the iphone port area (the ONLY one) to be more exposed even when properly seated. THANKS! Great video!

Hi Second Nature Landscape and design. 1) I always have to remove my phone from the case as well. 2) After my phone is properly seated I also have to adjust the position within the clamps. If you turn the clamp around you will see 4 shiney rods. Make sure your phone is centered. This may help with the port. If the phone is too thin add some cards as backing to move it forward and ditch the 90 degree connector. 3) Try a longer cable so that there is slack and it is not pulling the gimbal. They are extremely sensitive. 4) I honestly never have to charge my phone while on the gimbal, it lasts the entire time so I have never used the cable. I have however charged a device with the gimbal while not in use. Cheers Travis The Thompson Vlogs

Hi Travis!! Thanks for the response and possible solutions! After taking a close look, it appears that because of the rubber grips (two on either side of the phone and the one that it settles into on the end), there is not way to "bump the phone out" a bit to expose the port. It pretty much has to stay in the channel that is created for it. Man, that would be awesome to move it out to expose the port! Interesting to know that you generally do not charge your phone while recording. My phone's native battery drains SO QUICKLY when I am taking video. So much that I purchased a battery bank to plug into, for when my phone is just on a regular old tri pod or selfie stick. When I was looking at the gimbel I was impressed that it had the ability to charge from the stabilizer handle as well! It did not even occur to me that you would not be charging while recording. Otherwise it seems like you would have a lot of down time during a shoot. Especially with how quickly my phone battery drains! Amazing that your phone battery lasts for hours!!! Mine might last for 45 minutes tops. Interested to know if any other Smooth Q owners charge while using, or if they do that separately. It seems like it is a little cumbersome to have the phone/gimbel connected by a cord while the thing is spinning, turning etc. Seems to work okay tho...you just have to watch it! Sorry to be so long winded! I am not hugely mechanical or techy. My guy just brought me some little adhesive-backed weights that I have placed on the end of the phone carriage, to place more weight on that end. Maybe this will allow for the added overhang from the 90 degree connection. I am also waiting for a new 90 degree cord that appears to not stick out as far as the one I have. And it has a 3 foot long cord. Oh the Adventure.....K

I got this and i cannot for the life of me get it to connect to my phone without using the zhiyun app, i just want to use the default cam app on my s20 but it wont connect unless its through the app. Anyone got any ideas?
@TravisMThompson2 жыл бұрын
You don't need the app unless you want control over the phone. You can use without the app. Just have to manually press record using your phone.

Zhiyun SMOOTHQ realizes a lightweight fuselage, loses the texture of the fuselage, and must be manually connected each time it is used. There is no Bluetooth memory connection, which is very inconvenient.

To be honest I don't connect the smooth Q with Bluetooth. Now that I have the smooth 4 I do connect more often for the zoom feature.
