Um can u help me with something? So like tenacity set gives buff for 3 sec but zhongli e resets it if enemy is hit by his pillar but its range isnt that big so when u place other geo construct they all resonate with the pillar so does that also reset the buff duration if enemy is hit by other object which is resonating with zhongli pillar? Or the main pillar have to hit for it to reset?

Actually the damage from the resonance is also from Zhongli's pillar (elemental skill) therefore considered as his elemental skill damage, resetting the Tenacity 4pc passive. The resonance damage is still from Zhongli so that's why the resonance from other Geo constructs will still count as Zhongli's elemental skill damage.

@@pg3856 Hmm, depends on your preference. If you like a shield bot Zhongli who can tank anything for you, go for Black Tassel (and it's also very affordable). If you like having a Gucci weapon with decent stats, then go for Vortex Vanquisher but I don't recommend it at all if you are an f2p or a light spender. If you do wish for it, be sure that you would also like to have the other rate-up weapon (which is the Amos' Bow in the upcoming banner) if you ever get it. For choosing either the Tenacity or Bolide, I would hands down recommend Tenacity as it gives those good hp bonus and also buffs teammates. Bolide is a selfish one because the shield strength stat you get from the 2 piece cannot be transferred to teammates. 4piece is only good if you're going for a Physical/Auto Attack Zhongli. For my recommendations, if you like your Zhongli to deal high damage, gain his ult faster, and still provide nice shields, then I recommend Tenacity set partnered with Favonius Lance if you do have it.

@@freydy4598 zhonglis shield brings a lot of utility like resistance shred and is a good burst dps. Tho for shields - yes they are still good, but u should still have a healer since shields give you resistance interruption and reduce the amount of damage you generally take

@@freydy4598 corrosion didn't really nerf shields, theyre still really good all around, but i def wouldn't head to inazuma without a healer. there can and should be a healer and shielder on every team, with exceptions ofc (and for ur edit this is my personal opinion but i think healers were necessary even before new patch since as a shield only zhongli is busted so you should invest in a healer first)

Personally, I feel 35k to 40k is perfect, because you still have room to build a little attack, and typically at that HP by the time your shield breaks, you can just refresh.

If you're only focusing on his shield, then shield strength and def would be great but high hp would also give boosts to his normal atks, E and Q from the passive so you can get decent dmg from him as well. I want hp% from the tenacity set but I keep getting crit stats and not hp%. Mihoyo knows very well about what we want XD

I think if u have a great dps in the team, you can focus building zhongli in Hp rather than atk/geo dmg. His passive scales with hp, so it's okay if u pick hp main stats on artifacts.

@@applepie8138 2pc Bolide only activates when the user is on-field, and shield strength bonuses can't be snapshotted to a shield, so in this case only Zhongli himself can benefit from the bonus if he is the only 2pc Bolide user, if swapped out to other teammate, the shield strength bonus is gone. This is why usually Bolide users is not the shielder of the team, but the on-field dps who relies on normal and/or charged attacks (like Yanfei, Hu Tao, Keqing, Ningguang, Noelle, Itto), and they would use the 4pc set instead only 2pc (2pc is rarely recommended for any character). The 4pc Bolide can work for Zhongli too, but in the case where Zhongli is the physical on-field dps.

Zhongli’s effective hp shield is also dependent on the character’s defence/resistance because these reduce the damage absorbed by shield hence increasing its capacity.

I think that was the point of the video. Geo resonance is not part of Zhongli's kit, but I do admit it's tempting since you've already filled one party slot with Geo and Zhongli's shield is your best bet of always having its effect active.

Remember the shield also takes less damage if your character has higher defense since that does effect how much damage you take. So for someone like itto or Noel for example, your shield technically will feel stronger due to their overall defense stat :)

I am so dumb for not realizing that we can minimize the damage to shield if the current character hasil high defense Its as if shield is just your additional HP, and to make your additional HP last longer, you have to have high defense so your so called additional HP wont deplet fast. Yup if you want more damage for your burst go for ATK sands or if you want a nice healthy shield you can go for HP sands just choose whatever you want

@@nirimisu With 30k HP Favonius ZL, noblesse increases 20% of your ult from 20-40k to 24-48k, with 9k shield. 4 pc tenacity set gives you extra 30% shield from 9k to 11.7k Increases team atk by 20%, which translated into 10% of ZL ult damage from 20-40k, to 22k-44k. Also around 5-10% damage increase for your entire team. So choosing 2 pc Noblesse over 4 piece Tenacity set, gives you 10% more ZL ult damage, But 10% less E resonance damage, less 20% attack for your entire team damage, and 30% potential shield loss.

Thanks for the comparison. Back in old days on reddit, people recommended 30k hp is enough for everything, even myself do the same. So im surprised to see the new trend zhongli 38k-50k (back in older days, 40-50k is rare). I guess it really depends. 30k is enough for me to use until his E cooldown for a new shield (with 10k aoe dmg and a pillar for support dmg), been using it like that since zhongli first banner. I tried using my friend's zhongli, much hp weak dmg, and I don't think that suitable for me lol maybe b.c I dont enjoy playing hutao.

My Recommendations: 38-40k HP w/o 4pc tenacity 30-32k HP w/ 4pc tenacity From recent testing 4pc tenacity set is making my sheilds look like a 40k sheild with only having 31k HP, making my Ningguang tank atleast 3 hits from the Cryo Regisvine before breaking and doing a tiny bit of damage (note my ningguang is lvl 80 with a no set bonuses and alot of damage stats). from what i can hypothesize the tenacity set can give around 8k hp worth of sheilding to your units. tanking that much damage is enough to survive any big attacks and won't compromise my damage. also enough not to break and refresh ur sheild back up again.

I use 34K HP Zhongli and to be honest I barely ever take Damage. This is with the Archons team btw with Zhongli Venti Ei and Ganyu so he’s not getting Geo resonance here either. I find it quite enough because in most scenarios you are not gonna passively stand and do nothing. Not to mention standing on Zhongli’s pillar is great against AOE boss attacks like Azdaha’s stomping or Ei’s 3 Electro spears or Signora’s Ice spear. You can stand atop Zhongli’s pillar and attack the enemy too if your DPS are archers or catalysts. Like mine is Ganyu. Or pop the pillar close to the enemy & Polearm/Claymore DPS can hit from there too and if the enemy is bigger sword uses can do it too.

Use tenacity of the millelith, it's a 30% buff to your shield and a free noblesse buff. It's his overall Bis as sub DPS since you can still focus on damage with your stats except a hp sands and still have a tanky shield

My Zhongli who has 34k HP, full tenacity set with lvl 90 Fav Lance who hits 75k with his ult at level 9 talent but almost never had an issue with his shield (which is only level 8)

Good to know DEF damage reduction scaling is calculated first before shield damage absorption E.g Damage dealt 20k, shield strength 10k 1. 1000 DEF reduce dmg by 25% - > you received 15k dmg - > shield absorb 10k - > in the end you received 5K dmg total. 2. 2000k DEF reduce dmg by 50% - > you received 10k dmg - > shield absorb 10k dmg - > in the end you received 0 DMG

I never realized how little hp zhonglj's shield had. Mine rarely breaks so i assumed it had nearly 100% of his health or something but no at lvl 9 his shield takes 21% of his hp. Adding the initial hp is has that's only 10-11k if he has 40k hp.

if you have defense you reduce the damage income, the shield protects that damage. So if you receive less damage you need less shield too. + 2K defense reduces a LOT of damage. Azdaha almost do not damage my albedo with the attacks, only the burn does something. So around ~45K HP should be enough.

I have ayaka hutao raiden and ningguang decently built currently and so I am not in need of dps as of the moment. It just feels so fun playing Xiao that's why I want to get him.

I think your shield won’t be very strong because it seems you will only have about 26-29k hp even if you try to get hp substats. my zhongli build is a little weird but it works. triple hp% 4pc emblem set, the catch r5 and 40/150 crit ratio (get lucky with substats, dont need much ER subs bc you already get a free 75% ER from the set bonus and weapon). lots of burst dmg bonus for cheap, strong shield, burst uptime is good too

Yeah If you can, xiao for example can't dodge in plunges, so it is also character dependent, if you can consistently dodge I think40k is the sweet spot but if not honestly max out on hp

If you meant a DEF% artifact on Zhongli, the answer is no it wont make the shield stronger. His shield scales off his max HP so Def isn't really doing anything. However, if your active character that is being shielded by Zhongli has high def stat then the shield can last longer (e.g. Itto, Noelle, Gorou, Albedo). So a typical Zhongli shield build is mostly HP.

30k hp is super fine, because you won‘t have to tank the attacks so hard as showcased in the video; The shield will hold almost always till refresh, unless you don‘t even try to dodge some attacks. Everything above that is mostly just needed if you literally don‘t want to play the game. My Zhongli can hit around 90k with burst (no homa) and my shield is strong enough to hold in most situations. I think this build works way better compared to 50-60k hp because then your Zhongli won‘t really give your team anything else except the shield.

for those who want a hybrid build u can still get 45k hp with 66-150 crits (bp polearm) u get quite decent dmg and really good shield (im running mine like that with 4 tenacity and R1 bp polearm) i get 53k burst dmg just zhongli no resonance no buffs and 70k with geo resonance wich is amazing for a shield non homa build

I feel like using the 4 star shield strength food would increase the shield more than the 25% hp food, but I'm not entirely sure. Thoughts on using +25% hp food vs 35% shield strength food? Just wondering since you can only consume 1 food of each type, and they're both defensive foods.

So Basically my previous Lvl90 Noelle with shield 3200 can take Childe whale atk and withstand three more dolphin atks. my current stats on my Noelle with r3 white blind and husk set i can reach 4000 shield and more with Garou. I'm just hoping to keep my shield up against Dvalin stank breath. Edit. My Noelle can reach upto 4.4 k Def at full stacks and Garou talent 8

The 30k HP Zhongli's shield similar to my Diona shield too.. So in his 2nd rerun (the 3rd banner for my experience) i need another reliable shield beside my Diona, the shield which is strong and fast deploy. Even sacrife my 2nd attempt for Ganyu 😭. So far, I have build another shield like Noelle, Xinyan and now Thoma. None of them come handy like Diona's shield and their shield have long cooldown and/or tricky set up. For me, this is shielder tierlist : 1. Zhongli (can achieve over 30k HP shield) 2. Diona (2nd fast shield CD, sacrificial bow faster shield uptime) 3. Thoma (stacking shield strength for other character, but can break easily during team rotation before fully stacking up the shield) 4. Xinyan (tricky level 3 shield, even for her C2) 5. Noelle (2nd or even 1st if she be the main DPS, looooooooooong CD) 6. Kaeya/Yanfei (dude, need constelation and both of them better become DPS and/or sub-DPS)

I think 60k hp is unnecessary. I personally would think that crit/hp/hp is the best artifact stats for him to enable the passive for Fav lance which is arguably his best weapon.

My zhongli has 30k hp with 51/154 crit ratio. His shield is usually strong enough for floor 12 (it only breaks when I try to get max score on events like the current one) and you get 55 to 100k burst dmg as a bonus
