Since you are so interested in Zhoushen and this song and are learning chinese, then I would like to share with you the treasure of this song. “相思” meaning thinking of each other or missing one another. The chinese dramatic voice he started actually is the very typical Suzhou regional opera which has very high cultural treasure value in China. “相思” is the lyrics sung by the ancient song entertainer girls. They used to be paid to sing to their male customers. The meaning of the song is the Worthlessness of missing them. Thinking of them has no more value. The entertainer song girls were poorly regarded those days. Zhoushen sings lots of very good chinese poem songs. Zhou shen is a humble and very low esteem boy that was made fun of for his voice,height and looks at one point he stopped singing due to the bullying. Eventually he went to university in ukraine to study as an dentist without understanding a single Ukrainian. As he struggles to even try and understand the language in a medical sch, he eventually gave up n choose to pursue his dreams and entered a music school in Ukraine. After all the struggles in that sch as well he manage to graduate with amazing scores. In between his school days he was encouraged by the staff from voice of china for 3 years to attend as a candidate he kept on refusing due to his low esteem and anxiety in facing the crowd. However the staff manage to persuade him and he went for it. He lost in the second wrong but for the past 6 years he has been working hard as a singer and eventually for the past 1 year he started to become more known in china. He is known for having a siren's/angelic/goddess voice. with his background studying classical musical opera his wish in creating music is to combine classical opera in modern music. He is known as the "walking autotune" as he is known for having one of the best live vocal in china without having any needs to have behind the scene staff tuning his vocal in tracks or tv shows. Fyi, he is very particular with words pronunciation and cleaniness in singing voice thats why when u hear him sing even in a raspy airy voice you can still hear every word he is saying. He is sing in Chinese, english,Ukrainian,russian,italian,french,polish and recently even hindu!

In this songs he combines the traditional songs (the first part) called 《秦淮景》which is from a movie 《The Flowers Of War》，actually it is rewrite by a Jiang Nam folks songs and sings by the Zushou Language with special skills(also know as Zushou Pingtan). Zhou Shen is perfectly sang it out with the skill of Zushou Pingtan. It seems that it is not only a song, what he showed to us is a performance of Arts. From the second part of songs, it is from a TV Drama's many years ago. The content of the song is match with the first part feeling of the Zushou Pingtan. Zhou Shen is a wonderful singers that can present the heart feeling of the songs eventhough you don't understand the language he sang. Pls keep react on his songs you will find many different sides of him. He is a treasure singer that worth to discover. I would like to introduce some other style of songs like 1. Haha😂 finally found an English reaction of this Singer. So far as i know, the song bases on a poem of Wang Wei,'' One of Wang Wei's famous poems "One-hearted" (Xiang Si 相思)'' and it has a story behind (as i read somewhere on the internet 😅) During the war time there was a couple, when the husband went to war, his wife was waiting for him everyday and she cried so much as her tears were blood and from the drop of her blood tear it grows a tree and that tree has red berries, and it becomes the symbol for their love. In the beginning and ending of the song Zhou Shen was singing some kind of folk music from Jiangsu. Hope this helps everyone to understand the song better 🎶👌

I think "lovesick" would be a good translation for “相思” the title of the song. But instead of one person being lovesick because the other person doesn't love them, here in the song it's put in a way which describes how two people in love cannot be together, and as time goes by, only one of them is still missing the other.
