Although Thai & Lao practice Buddhism their bottom layer and beliefs are still in: Mo, Phi, Khwan similar to other Tai speaking clans. Lao kings in ancient times banished the native Mo religion and forced Buddhism on the population. The local population fused the Mo religion together with Buddhism.

The students in the clip are from the central part of Thailand and they speak standard Thai. But the people in Laos as well as the north-eastern and northern parts op Thailand speak a different dialect which is more similar to the language of Zhuang, Yunnan and Guangxi. This suggests that Zhuang and Thai-Lao people are very closely related, but the ruling elite and many Thai historians have been avoiding telling the truth and making up different stories to instil nationalism sentiment among Thai people. And there is now a fight between the ruling elite and common people to rewrite their new history and build up a new social structure. The political conflict that is going on in the country is a manifestation of the building up of such a new social and political structure.

What a lie... While the language is the same...The real story is that Thailand and Laos used to be a Khmer empire for so long, not until the Yuan Dynasty (Mongol) that the Tai people from S. China migrated to Laos and Thailand. That being said, the people who speaks Tai-Kradai that migrated to Thailand weren’t the majority of the population, nor did they killed all the Khmer people. You see dark Thai on the daily basis in Thailand... So no, DNA between the Zhuang and Thai people are different, only a portion of the Thai people have the same DNA as the Zhuang people. Don’t kid yourself, The real Thai are Khmer people. The ruling class (who were the minority) changed the language of Thailand from Khmer language to Tai-Kradai in the 13th century after stolen the royal crown, still they can’t erase all the real roots of Khmer and absorbed the culture and writing from the Khmer based on Indian culture.

Both Thais generally speak standard Thai, sometimes mixed with Lanna or Northern Thai dialect. Central Thai is the most divergent Tai language highly influenced by Khmer, old Indian (Pali-Sanskrit) languages and dialects of Chinese overseas immigrants (especially Teochew Min). That makes difficulty in communicating between Thais and Zhuangs coz standard Thai contains a big set of foreign loanwords while standard Zhuang (Northern Zhuang) contains many Mandarin Chinese loanwords.

There are two types of Zhuang languages, one is Northern Zhuang (Northern Tai) and the other is Southern Zhuang (Central Tai). I look like real Thai’s with big eyes and lightly tannish skin, but will turned light skin when I don’t spend much time in the sun. But I’m sure some people in thailand looks more Chinese due to recent newly migration of Chinese to thailand. Even now, some Chinese continues to moved to thailand! But overall in conclusion the Thai’s people have a mixtures of many bloodline!

I did genetic tests too and found out that my Thai side mostly come from this group (Tai), second being Chinese. It was not surprising since my grandmother is from Chiang Rai and her mother is Tai dam. Then my grandfather is from central Thailand and is half Chinese, but even I had a small amount of kmer or mon and Northwest indian. It is believed that the mon-kmer had kingdoms in what is now called Thailand then a thousand years ago the Tai people came down from southern China and absorbed these native groups, but obviously there are still alot of people in Thailand who are majority mon-kmer. It's easy to tell by looking at people. And there are many malay is southern Thailand.

The Lao-Thai or Thai-Lao people share the similar history with Chinese (Han) in China for 5000 years. It began in North China (Gansu Province and Inner Mongolia). Back then they were just Lao or "Ai Lao". As for thousands of year they moved to central and south China and current locations. About 2000 years ago, they started to call themselves "Tai or Thai" , meaning free, freedom, and to be free from the Han (Chinese). Eventually, most of them left China about 1000 years ago (current central and south China), to Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. The current Thailand got the most of them because it was always been a larger and prosper region of Khmer Empire; thus, the people tended to speak like Khmers or Cambodians. I am a Lao American who has been living and working in China for four years now. Some Lao words are similar to Chinese (Han) and mostly to minorities' languages here in the south and central China.
@peakarach70518 жыл бұрын
Agreed, only the Ai Lao part. The word Thai was a Lao word it mean human, or people. There were no such thing as Thai prior to 1949, back then they were called Siamese, or R Siam by Lao, Khmer, Burmese, etc. Some say that Thais are actually lao peoples mixing with Mon - Khmer peoples, that's why theirs languages are mixture of mostly Lao and Mon - Khmer languages.

Nothing wrong with that peoples changed country name all the time in past history especially thousands and thousands of year ago, British, Chinese, American, Mexico every countries does it, so why would it be any different. You can not call Thailand second Lao even if Tai/Lao are majority because Thailand and Lao are separated country and even separated Kingdom in the old days so Tailand or Thailand are appropriate name for it and peoples know they are many race in Thailand
