In this video, I'm joined by ‪@jakelyonsgeo‬, and we will be playing moving duels until I managed to take one against him. We did the same, but reversed on NMPZ on Jake's channel so check that out below. Also, sub to ‪@geoguessr_explained‬, because we'll be posing the Skill Swap series there from now on!

I like this moving, I think that moving games should all include a minumum 30s before able to plonk. Makes it more distinct and forces to move and scan instead of playing NM and insta-plonk

In the Germany round at 21:20 it says the city name 'Rosenheim' on the glass of the bus stop which you looked at. The red 'Bierfest' poster on your screen which you completely ignored also had the Bavarian blue and white check pattern on its logo, which would have gotten you the correct state. You complained in that round that "I couldn't get to any info bro" - but all the info was there and you just didn't look enough at it. In general your main flaw on Moving seems to be that you're so used to scanning for the metas, reading the vegetation and checking for the vibes that give you the answers on tricky rural NMPZ rounds (and tricky rural Moving rounds), that on more urban Moving rounds you ignore too much of the text on posters/shop signs/side of vans/bus stops/road signs etc. which can actually tell you EXACTLY where the location is without having to use any metas or get a read on the vegetation etc. You should be trying to read basically every poster/shop sign/van/public transport etc. that's there as they so often have the address. I think you need to find a flick in your mindset that whenever you land on more urban (or motorway) Moving rounds you switch from the mode of being mostly interested in all the NMPZ meta and vegetation recognition, to quickly trying to scan as many signs and read as much text and logos as you can find; and on Motorways don't ignore the possibility for road signs nearby. Of course use all the meta/vegetation/geography stuff to support your guess as well, and quick guessing based on the NMPZ metas on Moving rounds can be a very good tactic on more rural rounds as Shinji showed in the World Cup, but Jake seems to manage to beat you more often here mainly because he just finds and reads the signs quicker and then 5ks (which in some ways is less difficult than the recognition skills you use to win on NMPZ). In the World Cup you can't just hope for always getting rural Moving rounds in the Multis which you can quickly guess on and the opponent can't 5k. I know your internet connection doesn't help, but maybe just practise Moving rounds whereby you scan to find clues to the place name quickly on signs, but without giving yourself a set time limit so there's not as much pressure on your laggy internet and figure out how long it would take you in a tournament with better internet. Also, my gut instinct from watching these games is that insta-sending on more urban Moving rounds will still typically result in you losing those rounds, as the chance of finding signage in the extra 15 seconds the opponent has seems too high. But it might be useful to calculate exactly how many seconds it on typically takes the top players to find the signage to 5k on urban Moving rounds, so you can calculate exactly how beneficial or not it is for you to insta-guess and how many seconds you can take before sending.

Challenge for mod makers - a zi8gzag mode. Every screen you load, you have 1-3 seconds of delay before you see literally anything. Just so we can see extremely good moving players like Jake malding a bit :). Then we can really understand the insane disadvantage it is playing from a place like Aus.

Great video. I knew by the video length it was going to take a few games. But no shame in losing to Jake in moving. Its like deciding to take up soccer, and deciding to do a 1v1 vs Messi or Ronaldo as a starting point. Cant wait to see more of it. Also loved the spliced in moments from Jakes perspective.

about the homework: as you say, you're "prrobably not gonna move around anyways, and never use it" or something like that. If you actually put in the work for the districts/kabu-whatevers, you need to keep refreshing it by actually moving and reading signs in moving games, or else what you learn the next week or two is LONG gone before the worlds. It only sticks after repeat-repeat-repeat usage over months imo

I can't help feeling that "My no moving guesses are better than my moving guesses" is a self-fulfilling prophecy - yes movement in Geoguessr is frequently infuriatingly slow and those black spots are worse, but even in the middle of nowhere a sign with language on it can prevent a complete disaster.

22:59 I play the official daily challenge every day, and a while back there were Santa Cruz rounds in almost consecutive days. I realized that those "Argentinian" poles are actually quite common around the Santa Cruz area. Also, like I mentioned in my reply to Jake, it would be cool to see the "other side" to both this and the NMPZ video. Would be cool to study how you both reasoned through some of those guesses. It could be a unlisted video linked in the description or something like that, but it would feel valuable at least to me.

I thought I recognised Salem, WV from Peter Santenello's "Poorest Region of America" video which went somewhat viral a few months ago but after scanning through it, I don't think it was that. There are a number of other Salems in the US though. Salem, MA, famed for the witch trials, Salem, OR, the capital of Oregon, and also Salem, AR which is the point where the paths of this week's solar eclipse and last week's lunar eclipse intersect.
