Very promising performance from a young Zizou. There were so much expectations of this young man. He had to replace the "irreplaceable" Eric Cantona in this France team and then live up to the billing as "the next Platini". Safe to say that he surpassed expectations 🙂

Did not watch this game before. But Zidane really seemed to be hungry for goals in this one. That drive around 4:12 is really a nice glimpse of his skills. Dribbled his way from the right wing with a penetrating pass ... then went ahead with full steam and smashed it with his left foot without any hesitation. One would think he was left-footed... Rare balance for a young guy. Thanks! The video quality is unbelievable for such old footage!

Would have loved to see Zidane, Ginola and Cantona together in this France team. But may be Zidane's prominence with French national team would have been delayed if Cantona was available for selection because they played similar position. But the fantasy of Zidane, Ginola and Cantona playing together is so appealing!

@@marlonjoseph633 Yes I agree 👍🏽. Essentially Cantona passed on the Mantle to Zidane and I do belive both could have co-existed in Les Bleus as Cantona also thrived in that false 9/support striker role.
