Vero, ultimamente la fanno gioiosa ovunque ma non dovrebbero
@andreatrezzi7186 Жыл бұрын
@Irvetar Жыл бұрын
I agree, it's easily the best in my book. I always felt that other versions lacked in intensity and that sense of foreboding that a partisan song should give. I probably have some national bias here, but I think the only one that comes close in that regard is the Finnish cover.

In the end Mussolini was nothing more than a German puppet, ruling over a rump state in the northern half of Italy and grasping at straws to keep himself alive. His "Socialization" policies existed largely only on paper, giving no actual power to unions and workers while the wealthy industrialists retained all the money and power. I love this song more than the katuysha because this song I feel resonates much more, Whereas Katuysha is about the overcoming of adversity as a collective. Bella Ciao celebrates the work of the individual. Remember, in 1939 the internal war is lost, the fascists won and now sit on the thrown of a fascist empire built of the blood and exploitation of thousands. This song is about individuals who looked and continue to look at this situation and at serious personal risk realizing they will more likely die than see the changes they are fight for, fight anyways no matter the odds.

I've heard this today for the first time for some reason - it started playing when civil war in Italy kicked off (probably never happened in my games before, even with Ahistorical AI pretty much always on). I absolutely love how haunting this interpretation of the song sounds in the beginning - hauntingly beautiful it is, and then it goes from that to powerful and spirited. It's definitely up there for me along with other masterpieces from the HoI IV OST, namely "My, Pierwsza Brygada" and "Returning in Coffins".

It was when he fell silent that I truly despaired for him, because I knew he had lost his hope. I knelt down to pray but I did not believe in god. I was lost. Black days followed. One solitary thing happened that gave me courage. An Italian boy running some errand in the compound spotted our cell through our barred sliver of sky. He tried to talk to me and I to him, but he spoke no English and I no Italian. Through the crammed slit of window, I showed him my patch, and, on the dusty road where it opened to, he left for me a flower.

When I played my first Italian playthrough in By Blood Alone, did the the 'normal' El Duce route. And the song didn't really fit in the game. (Too easy.) But when I did the Pope route, and simultaneously decided to save Yugoslavia from German invasion, it fit perfectly when I finally beat the Germen back. You know, in 1940, even in normal difficulty, Italy has no offensive power against Germen divisions -- none whatsoever, especially after the detour for Pope. If you lose a province, you lose it for good. If it's a river line? A mountain line? An important supply hub or city? You actually have to plan for it and micro. Otherwise, a breached river line means a whole row of province lost. If not careful, a whole state lost -- again, even in normal difficulty. So when I finally beat the Germen back, and HOI4's Bella Ciao cover played right when that happened, I felt exactly what the song conveys -- I resisted the Germen!!
