2023 Hyundai Verna Drive Impressions, Review & ADAS Deep Dive | It Just Makes Sense!

With this new generation, the Hyundai Verna (Hyundai Accent in international markets) now closes the gap to the Elantra by offering a package that’s more family-friendly but also tech-loaded than before. Much like its alternatives, the dimensions have grown but the looks have also turned more polarizing. The Verna now also offers Level 2 ADAS with a lot of focus put into making the system more India-friendly which should help more people use the technology more actively. However, the Verna no longer offers its popular diesel engines, opting for petrol and turbo-petrol options only, both with manual and automatic transmissions.

I personally liked the new style of review: you packed in a lot of substance in a short duration and allowed the viewer to get up close with the interior and exterior of the car. I don't know how and if I will like this format in the future, but for now, two thumbs up! And as always, great review!

The format; not being too radically different from what could be seen in the majority of the first drive videos by other media houses had an edge in terms of script writing, and dialogues and was quite successful when it came to capturing the idea or the concept of the car which in this case was the new Verna (what I mean to say, it was more about the car than about the presenter, which was the best thing about the video)... Don't take me otherwise, at least it is refreshing to know that someone acknowledges that the value addition in terms of making these videos as interesting or compelling as an audiovisual format of journalism had really taken a backseat off late and literally no effort was visible in any of the similar presentations, no matter how big or small the media house is (Autocar, Overdrive or even the vloggers who are more sort of self-proclaimed automotive journalists, barring one or two)... I think you are doing a great job 👍the approach is right towards making the Car the hero of the content...hold on to that and the results will be very rewarding in a long journey, both for you and the media house...All the best. Nice review, but you missed some other features to say like automatic boot opener, electric parking brake, extra design on front bumper for turbo variants to input more air. Basically a difference between the manual and turbo variants in features vise

Build quality is good, no creaking or loose fitting bits in the Verna, which we did, in fact, experience in the Slavia. That, however, should not be taken as an indicator of crash safety (good or bad) in any capacity.

this format works a heck of a lot better! also, the Verna objectively is a good looking car, i dont know why people say its polarizing also anything about the suspension setup? Faisal said its really soft and therefore makes it swerve

Thanks, Neil! Didn’t touch upon the suspension setup because in the process of the shoot, only managed to get about 20km of drive time on roads that were mostly well paved and straight. It does have a soft edge still, but that’s a minor tradeoff for city ride comfort. It felt fine in both seat rows at 100-120kmph - Tushar
