Matthew Nguyen-Ngo I got this set as a Christmas gift back in 2008, it's definitely a reliable set of cymbals for the price. I'd say they are versatile and can be used in any musical situation. From Lars Ulrich to Vinnie Colaiuta, they offer a wide range of possibilities. My only criticism is that, yes, they are bright and ringy, and you may just find yourself opting for some Zildjian K's in the future.

Thinner cymbals are actually more durable, since they're able to flex easier, which is the cause of cracking I'm a hard hitting drummer and I've had an A Custom 16" Crash on my kit for 3 and a half years, hit them right (swipe across, don't hit through) and they can last forever

You absolutely will not regret it! This is one of the best lines of cymbals out there, at least for my sound. My setup includes 12 cymbals: 2 rides, 1 china, 5 crashes, and 4 splashes. I have 2 sets of 12 that I switch out. One set of 12 is a combination of Paiste Signatures and Sabian AAX's. The other set of 12 is a combination of Zildjian K Customs and Zildjian A Customs. Out of all the cymbals I own, including practice sets and everything, the Zildjian A Custom crashes are probably my favorite. Let me warn you though, don't be tempted later on to buy the Zildjian A Custom splash cymbal. It's got the A Custom price tag but is probably the worst sounding splash cymbal I've ever heard! For the best sounding splash cymbal to compliment your A Custom combo pack, get the Paiste Signature dark Mll 10 inch splash.

bennett ferrell Is A Custom cymbals good? I am comparing to K Custom Hybrid
@bennettferrell94539 жыл бұрын
A Custom is my very favorite line of cymbals out there. I do have a K Custom Hybrid 20" Ride, and a K Custom Hybrid 12" Splash cymbal, and I'm very pleased with the unique sound of the K Custom Hybrid Line. But if you want a more pure, traditional crash sound, A Custom is DEFINITELY the only way to go. K Custom Hybrids should only take up one or two cymbal slots on your setup and are really more for accent crashes. A Customs should take up most of your cymbal slots on your setup and be your main go-to crash cymbals. Here's a tip: If you play in smaller venues a lot like coffee houses or churches, Zildjian offers a "Fast Crash" in the A Custom and the K Custom lines of cymbals. They have the IDENTICAL sound to the standard A Custom and K Custom Crashes, but they're thinner so they don't have as much volume or project as loudly, and they have less sustain. They're perfect for smaller venues.
@jasonshk9 жыл бұрын
Maybe Ill consider A custom. They even have a brilliant finish. My Idea: A custom 16" and 18" crash 20" K Custom Hybrid Ride 14.25" K Custom Hybrid Hi-Hat
@bennettferrell94539 жыл бұрын
Your ear is a lot like mine! You'll really enjoy the K Custom Hybrid Ride. I have the 20" and I love the tone of that cymbal. It's the perfect ride to me. The Hybrid hats are pretty good too, but I prefer the A Custom Mastersound Hi Hats. Those are the perfect sounding hats in my opinion. The only other difference is I go a little smaller on the crashes, mainly because I prefer a higher pitch crash tone. I prefer the 15" and 17", but that's just a matter of preference.

Funny...Ive been playin drums for HELLA years. Started in the 80's with mostly Zildjian A's but Ive had plenty experience with most of the other bigs. I thought I got tired of the basic same ole heavily lathed, matte finished A's because they were mostly all I played and looked at for so long. Sometimes change over rides common sense...for a minute anyway. Some say they have changed in quality, but Im callin BS on that, and that comes from beatin the tar out these mo-foes since before the pyramids. Yes Zildjian have made relatively modest changes to thickness and pitch to their cymbals, but in my 35 years experience, they have never lost quality in sound or durability. All cymbals break if you pound em hard enough and for my money, there are no "better" cymbals on the planet. Again, its all subjective and there are plenty cymbals and cymbal companies that are as good. Now whether you like em or dont, they are VERY good plates, and "good" or "bad" is absolutely subjective. Dont waste your time telling me my A and A Custom cymbal setup sounds anything less than beautiful, because you would be wrong.

Consistency is the only downside but when you find that perfect hand-hammered cymbal, it's so much more satisfying than something that sounds like everyone else for the past 20-30 years. Hmm I can't choose the A custom and K box set. Unless anyone would like to loan me an extra 800 dollars that won't be payed back.

Overpriced and lacking in tone. I've tried out many ,many of these cymbals over the years and never found one that was even remotely interesting. A and K Zildjians are just so much more refined in terms of high qualty sound. A Customs are the Edsel of cymbals as far as I am concerned.

yeah true that. I wish it was easier to get A series cymbals with a brilliant finish.

I've never really digged a crashes(Love the sweet ride though) but I love A custom and K's. Sure the 16" is a little to ringy to me but the 18" is very nice
