Personally, as a beginner drummer, I purchased a set of Meinl HCSs and I'm happy with them. I get a chance to use a set of cymbals without worrying that my inconsistent technique would damage a high end set of bronze cymbals. My tastes in cymbals is constantly changing depending on the music I listen to and I don't feel stuck with a set of expensive cymbals that don't work for me. I have a complete drum kit now and I can take my time shopping for used and vintage cymbals and not feel rushed to get a less than optimal cymbal. I'll have my Meinls for playing in situations where I wouldn't feel comfortable with bringing expensive cymbals and not feel like I have to constantly watch my back or else my cymbal bag will walk off.

this is an unfair comparison, because Zildjian ZBT is made from B8 while Meinl HCS is made from BRASS. A fair comparison is: - Zildjian Z vs Meinl HCS (both made from BRASS) - Zildjian ZXT vs Meinl MCS (both made from B8) - Zildjian ZBT vs Meinl MB8 / Classsic Custom (both made from B8 Brilliant) - Zildjian ZHT vs Meinl B12 / SoundCaster / SoundCaster Fusion (both B12 based)

i have both of these and they sound good sometimes too good depending on the songs i cover but if i had to rate ZBT is 7.5/10 HCS is 8/10 for budget cymbals

Great vid presentation. Did you do one of Meinl HSC vs Sabian B8X ? Since Covid stay at home, i ordered Meinl HSC CYMBAL PACKAGE. They are ok for an upgrade from my Grammon cheap starter kit, but also ordered from Amazon the Sabian B8X package . Meinls are brass, Sabians are Bronze based. Im on fence about which to keep at this price point. One has to go back like now if i am to get a refund. Now i hear the Ziljians , really like that sound. Must be COVID anxiety making me a little crazy . The high hats on the Meinls compared to the Sabians are better. The other cymbals from Sabian of same sizes have more sustain thsn the Meinls.

Nice demo I feel the Zildjan hi hats sound better while to HCS ride and crash sound better, guess it's all preference on the sound you're looking for though

I've been drumming for almost 40 years. My old ears think the Meinll's outclass the ZBT. Back in the 70's I only bought Zildjian (good ones). I cracked every one of them. I replaced them all with Sabian B8 Pro's. I bashed the bejesus out of them. Never had an issue and I actually liked the sounf. I will NEVER buy expensive cymbals again.

HCS brass are great for beginners, no doubt! Miles and miles above the crap that was around when I started out. But the ZBTs win here IMO. The HCS cymbals just don't open up. They sound gong like no matter how hard they are hit. Probably because they are brass. Now that the HCS Bronze models are out, I think that would be a more fair comparison.

Picked up a ZBT set new last year, love everything but the ride...it's crap. Just replaced it with a vintage Rock Ride. Plan to replace the complete set but for a starter pack it's a good value.

Stick with Zildjian Planet Z is Cast Alloy unique sound similar to zbt. Either one is great and affordable, USA made, no china

Ayam Kabur I played an hcs cymbal in guitar center and it might be because it’s brass but it sounded cheap and i kinda hated the tone. This video makes them sound Great tho which is weird

Dereck Torres lol Zbt also sounded dead af, but I think that’s because both cymbal lines are just very thick cymbals, Zildjian and Meinl just have to remove some of the material and they’ll be fine.
