Zilla Tire Install - Yamaha Grizzly 700

Installing a set of new tires on the 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS. They consist of Maxxis Zilla 27x9x12 tires in the front and 27x11x12 in the rear. The rims are ITP SS 112 machined. Please consult your owners manual for the proper lug nut torque of your atv and any other info you may need.

Thanks! We love our Grizzly. It has been very, very reliable so far. Have over 4000kms. on it now and so far so good! I did have a front diff seal that was just starting to get a bit damp, so I changed it. Probably got damaged from the pressure washer I am guessing. But ya, that's it!

just had the same setup put on my grizzly too, but my zillas are 28s. they handle really well in the mud. they are a heck of a lot better than mud lites.

We had noticed that with the stock tires the speedo was off compared to the GPS and when the Zilla's went on the speedo actually showed right! Lost some top end though with the bigger tires and the shim mod in the clutch so don't really know the true difference. We have the "speedohealer" now which will adjust for tracks/bigger tires to get the speed to show correct.

dont forget to do your clutch. i did mine in my 700 and it made a huge difference in the bottom end power

Ya I had a conversation with my dad for his opinion and he the kind of riding we do the lugs are to spread apart to protect the tire its self so any other tires that you have heard of that are good all around?

i have 27" on my 450 and i go enney were in mud and snow i love them and want to go to 28 i had 26" mud bugs and was saprised in the difrentce in performance of the 27" and the zillas are so light im my opinoun there the best tire in the mud without going a super agresuve tire as long as you go tall

The Grizz has always been able to wheeling really easy even before the shim. When we put the bigger tires on though, we lost some bottom end so after putting the shim in..lost a bit of top end but got the bottom end "grunt" back LOL Glad you enjoy the vids!

nice wheel and tire combo,I just put a set of ITP SS212's with Slingshot tires on my Honda and the torque spec is 47 ft/lbs.I see yours is only 40 ft/lbs ,when I was torquing mine on I thought that it didnt seem very tight.Have you had any issues with yours such as loosening up or anything? thanks in advance for your input

I'm stuck between 26 bighorn and 27 zilla. I have tried the bighorn out on a friends they ride really smooth but I have never tried the zilla how does it ride? I own a 2012 kingquad 500 with power steering i'm going to do a 2mm shim on the primary but thats it. would you think this tire would bog down the bike? Me and my wife do mostly ride like you guys do. Thank you for the help and I love the vids keep it up

THanks for watching and glad you enjoy the vids! The zilla's at really slow speeds...like 1 mph are bumpy but then they ride awesome! (We don't ride much on pavement though ) They do spit the rocks on gravel roads! I did the 1.5 mm shim mod on the Grizzly and have been happy with the performance..no bog. Lost a bit of top speed, but not much at all. Would buy them again for how we ride! Great all around tire for mud, snow and gravel/bush roads. Hope that helps!

hello i have a 2013 polaris sportsman 500 and was woundering if u think these will work good on my wheeler qith out much power loss or wear on bearings or axels and what not it 27s i always could go 26s they will be going on my stock rims for now not sure if that makes a difference lol and my stock size is 25 i like the looks of them and they seem real good in mud and snow n such that u ride in the trails i ride r pack dirt mud and logging roads n some rocky stuff but no major rock climbing stuff there is some tar multi access roads i ride to get to the gas station n trails will the tar ware them alot or hurt them to much also i like your 4 wheeler it looks nice with the rims n tires

If you got the 26" zilla's they probably wouldn't be much bigger than your stock 25" as they tend to run a bit small. Hello Cubbeezx! how much space is it around the tires with the new zillas on? i am going to buy 27 swamp lites on ss 212-14 rims. do you think it is going to fit well? is it good clerance when you are steering with your tires? and when you have 1 extra passenger on do the tires scratch the plastic? do you have a low gear kit on yours? can you get chains on?

Hi Anton. No low gear kit (just a 1.5mm shim in the clutch when I put the bigger tires on). We don't use chains, so can't help there, but definitely no rubbing of the plastic with an extra passenger. The Grizz has 27" zilla's but on 12 inch rims and no rubbing...not sure what the 14" rims would do...maybe another viewer knows?

The tires came with rims too so can't say how much the tires alone would cost. They came from a Canadian site called 2coolperformance. Doesn't sound like a bad price!

They are good...don't plug up which is nice. Probably mud tires out there with bigger lugs, but we find our Zilla's are good for mud, snow, rock and bush riding!

morrow450 I think the Zilla's are a bit lighter than the mayhems, but CK has the 26" and if we had gone any bigger her Kodiak would have needed a clutch mod for sure. Also where we have the winch mounted, if you crank the wheels all the way it just barely rubs on the lugs, so 27" would rub for sure.

never add grease or never seize to wheel studs, throws torque way off. pointless to torque them after ....you actually over torque then
