This ZimaBoard is a rabbit hole that one could easily go down on a Friday after work and end up being late for work on Monday. Far too many tempting things to do with so little time. 😅 Thanks Cody for putting this video together!

You don't need to run Home Assistant to be able to run Scrypted. You can run Scrypted by itself to get the Protect camera feeds into your Google Home setup; or whichever smart home platform you wish to use. Running Home Assistant would either replace your Google Home setup or can be run in parallel with it. Home Assistant is just a beefed up version of a Smart Home platform that lets you get very granular in your smart home control and automations.

Thanks, Cody! For any Server I still recommend a normal "Box' - enclosed and protected PCB, Fans, multiple PCIe Slots, no exposed Wires etc

I think a HomeAssistant setup to output cameras to HomeKit or Google would be cool, definitely want to use something like this for a pfsense. Also also, would love to see what 3d printed case/rack you come up with

Can the ZIMA board be used as a Unifi Network development environment? I recently performed a factory reset on my UDM-SE console. In doing so, I lost access to my Protect cameras. Camera status displayed "Managed by another console," and adoption required a recovery code. It would have been great to have a sandbox to restore backups and extract the necessary configuration information.
