Your eyes do not deceive you, this video is all about zine ideas you can steal! All artists "steal" to some degree...we gain inspiration by taking in and admiring other people's work. Zine inspiration works in the same way where many zine makers get ideas from simply reading other creators zines.
Join me as I show you some of the zines I've made and give you full permission to STEAL ✓ This means when you see an idea you like, just take it and create a zine in your own personal style! I hope this video inspires you and gets you thinking of more creative way to make your art.

i should make a texts from my mom zine, because for some reason she uses ellipses as commas? she'd be like "hey kids... i got yall the souvenirs you wanted from the zoo..." "oh wow thanks mama :)" "you're welcome..." its slightly ominous but then i remember thats how she texts. thank you for that great idea!

zine idea! (similar to the business card one) if you’re in any school or other clubs, making a zine of information about the club is very handy! i’m currently the vice prez of my photography club and i’m working on a photo club zine as i’m watching this. include information such as: when and where you meet, what you do/the structure of the club or team, social medias, how to join, who to contact, etc. plus when you’re trying to get people to join you can just hand them one :)) i’m going to hand these out at freshman orientation!

Great video! What you’re saying about “stealing” ideas reminds me of the book Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. It’s about the same things you’re talking about-getting inspiration from different things and then making your own work. You “steal” a format or a topic but you make it your own (and not an exact copy of what you found).

made my first one and... i get it.. its so satisfying to hold something tangible in your hand that you created. the process of thinking up the idea to the layout and then the final result of holding it in your hands, or seeing other people read them is so satisfying.

If you think about, almost all the ideas on social media (IG, TikTok, etc) are stolen and copied. I'm glad to see people are still getting into zines in 2023 (and away from the online stuff 24/7) Keep up the good work!

I was so inspired by your “oh the places you’ll cry” zine! I actually ended up making something similar about my epilepsy where I rated different places I’ve had seizures.

Thank you for sharing this with me, that’s a very good idea for a zine and I’m sure very therapeutic for you in a way! I dated someone once who would have seizures every time we went out. Clubs, skateparks, you name it. I’m the new proud owner of a Kindle gen11th just today, and I’ve had moments ago thought of the idea about creating digital zines in PDF format which can be best viewed on an e-ink screen like my device… tbh I’m still looking for tutorials about creating zines meant for digital use ONLY (not for printing afterwards), but I have yet to find information :/

I have yet to see useful information on that too - and it’s probably because zines are primarily produced on paper for the use of distributing. There are some cool online zines I follow though, which you might gain insight from. The creator is called BabyBallou on Instagram and she makes her zines available online for free here: www.babyballou.com/ I would highly suggest reaching out to this creator about how she runs her online zine archive! Since I primarily make physical zines, I’m not sure I’d be able to make a tutorial about digital use zines but I’ll certainly look into it. Making zines available online in the way BabyBallou does is awesome for accessibility! Hope this information helps 😇🙏🏽
