Another way: set KEY_X to *key (left arrow) pressed* - *key (right arrow) pressed* change x_velocity to *2 × KEY_X* set x_velocity to *0.6 × x_velocity* KEY_X = -1 for left, 0 for none and 1 for right 2 × x_velocity = 2 is the acceleration, set it to something between 0.9 and 2 0.6 × x_velocity = 0.6 is the friction, the smaller the number, the quicker you'll slow down

I just used color sensing, where it stops some code if the sprite touches a certain color. (This is useful for game borders!)
