These birds are only endemic to the island of Madeira, and are only believed to number around 65-80 individuals. This show how vulnerable insular wildlife is, because if a predator was introduced either intentionally or accidentally, Zino's petrel would be completely wiped out. Saving wildlife, also includes saving the highly endemic species on insular habitats. Because they too provide gene pools for all of biodiversity on this planet.
