True joy is a place of thriving that doesn’t depend on our seasons or circumstances. It is a place rooted in relationship and intimacy. It is Christ’s victory complete in us. God is always working for us and through us, so matter what we are walking, it is never hopeless. Like a mother forgetting the pain of childbirth, through His joy, God is redeeming our past seasons of hurt and pain, He is redeeming the forfeited ground. Jesus poured out His joy and love upon us, and has commanded us to love others with that same love. The strength to do this is only found when we let Him love us first. When we bring our questions and needs to Him first, we allow everything else to be put in its proper place.

The enemy likes to remind us of the negative track record. He likes to remind us of things in the past or how someone behaved in the past. If I spend any time in that head space, I can get frustrated with the person I am praying for and believing for. I have to stop and pause and literally say to myself, stop looking at the track record because God is redeeming the time and redeeming the relationship and restoring it which is exactly what the enemy does not want. I am fighting from a place of victory...praising from a place of victory!

Oh man such a needed reminder to put Christ’s love first. I think it’s instinctual to almost put up a wall even to Him when we are in the icky places. Easy to convince the focus on loving Him but not allowing it back. He’s certainly been working on me in that area.
