John Peel, my hero when I was a teenager, a British institution and a National Treasure. His deadpan delivery and humour were impeccable while introducing the UK to great and innovative sounds. What a guy.

This is why I listened to John Peel. I would never have come across music like this, growing up in middle class, small town Scotland without him. Finding this made my mid-fifties white middle class academic job day. Happy man, nostalgic for my youth. Top music.

Peel memories.... in bed with a one ear headphone, dulcet tones, discovering bands, missing out on a session cos I quit my band just before the offer came. That is to say, Peel is life.

This is not the CRuts & without owens influence lacks that something special that were the RUTS.

The band (including Malcolm) were into reggae at an early stage and did a number of gigs suppoting Misty in Roots before they could headline themselves.Misty paid for the recording of In a Rut and it was released on their label.
