Embiid is a great example that taking a risk on an injury prone player CAN works out, it comes down to the Pels risk tolerance. I think they should take the risk, they aren't a premiere destination, or have a deep legacy and committed fanbase that will stick with them through a long rebuild.

@@dsfs17987 Yeah I mean, I doubt either of us know what it's like to live in that body man. I think he put to many games on those legs in his youth. I think the weight fluctuations probably have a lot to do with being injured on and off. He's still a young man growing into his body. It's just an unfortunate situation to watch. Think about how fucking strong and lean he could be if he was healthy enough to keep cardio in his offseason and put on the serious muscle I'm sure he's capable of adding with weight training. Watching how athletic and balanced he is, I don't think he's a typical case of just being injury prone. But maybe he is, like I said, no way to know what living in that body is actually like.

I've said it before, and that is when Zion threw down that monstrous Dunk late last year I felt like he did that in defiance as to all the people over the years telling him he should lose weight, or play a different style(not so physical)! Yet here we are again, and it's not looking good for Zion, because either he's going to get his act together or find another career! At this point in the game I don't think there is another career out there for Zion were he has the potential to be set for life as well as his family, only thing is he's going to have play a different way and he's going to have to lose more weight and start working out and stretching that way he won't run into these problems come regular season time! Everyone knows the best ability is availability and if any athlete isn't willing to make some sacrifices along the way in order to stay in the league, otherwise they'll be out of the league within a few years because teams just aren't going to pay player's huge salaries then sit back as they collect all their money while on injured reserve, uh uh no way!!!

A team looking to add him, while having to give up a lot of their talent in the process, would be crazy not to highly consider his injury history. He's only played 40% of the time in his 4 year career. Plus, as you noted, Zion is starting his 5 year rookie max. extension next season. Losing weight might even make things worse. Zion is naturally predisposed to be a strongman/powerlifter, not a basketball player. He is simply not meant to be lean, his body could have all sorts of issues.

@@elislifestyle4605 what makes no sense is him being overweight for no reason, jeopardizing his career, while having the best trainers and nutritionists money can buy. You have the same situation with guys like Embiid and Luka. Luka looks slimmer at a point each year and he plays solid, then he gains a bit of weight and starts playing better. Again, not everyone is meant to be under 10% bf and for some it's very detrimental to their health, and especially athletic performance. I doubt Zion is 300 when he plays, but 270-280 at about 15-18% bodyfat should be his goal.

It's simple physics with Zion, a 284 lb man simply can't be taking off, doing highlight reel dunks on the regular without getting injured. The fact is, Zion is great but plays with reckless abandon. Even when he was injured he was posting videos of him doing highlight reel dunks. The guy needs to lose weight and he needs to just go for the 2 points and not the highlight. Sadly, there's no evidence suggesting either will happen.

We know he is injury prone since high school but people forget the one big thing that's been around since he got drafted: He doesn't WANT to play in New Orleans. Pelicans fans (all 5 of them) and Zion fans just try to defend him and protect his image but y'all forget that this guy's own FAMILY got caught publicly saying that they want him out of New Orleans 2 seasons ago. The injuries may be real but this can be a blessing for him to be traded. He signed the extension to get more money so now he is planning is way to get traded. It's simple as that.

Idk its hard to think that a player who plays while exhibiting physical feats that no one else has ever done at that kind of weight on his frame. Has been injured in each & every season he has been in the league. And now what you are going to bet on him & think he is all of a sudden going to keep his weight in check, fly around the court like he is superman & now all of a sudden he is never going to get injured ever again? Wow that's some fantasy shit right there. Objects in motion stay in motion. So when the object is 300lbs and jumping nearly 50" in the air after running down the court at full speed & then land expecting the frame that is holding that structure into place & is obsorbing way more energy than I could calculate is just going to hold up no problem. Sorry we got a problem... it should get obvious to everyone that if someone can't stay healthy from 19-21 then they never will.
