Only thing I hate is you NEED a vacuum. I've used this brand and another. Some can support portable handheld vacuums, but no reviews on whether Ziploc does.

Look for a cheap vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment in a thrift ship.

How do you know when to STOP the vacuum suction? Is there ever a risk of keeping the vacuum on too long...of sucking out too much air? Also, I noticed that when she first opened the lid, the blue piece underneath came loose and she appeared to 'stick it back into place'. Does the blue piece normally come loose? Is it problematic if it's not firmly in place? And what is the purpose of that blue circle...is it made of like a porous foam or something...maybe it is there to ensure that the vacuum is incapable of literally sucking any of the fabric/contents from inside the bag, while at the same time, it's capable of sucking out the excess air from inside the bag? Also, not everyone know how these ziploc bags (the ziploc edge or opening of the bag...)...how they work...how the plastic slider works. Do I understand that it's not enough to SLIDE the slider from one end to the other...that you also must manually go along the entire top/opening of the bag, and press with your fingers to be sure it's totally sealed along the entire top/opening of the bag? Also, is one end of the bag opening considered the end to start to Open the plastic zipper, and the other end is where you Finish zippering with the plastic zipper? Or does it not matter which end you start or finish zippering with? And if it does not matter.... then how do we Unseal the top of the bag, when we want to get at the contents? If the plastic zipper piece is not doing the zipping/unzipping, then are we to open the bag by simply pulling apart the two side of the plastic seal at the top of the bag?

I tried all that with several bags and by the next day they were all full of air again. Any thoughts

I should do this the cottage is small and no storage space. How good does the vacumm cleaner have to be .......I know size matters.. I have a shark vaccum

As long as you have the tube on your vacuum, it should work.
