Such fun zippers!!! I can see them on a scuba dress, or down the back of a shift dress for my daughters to funk it up....easy to grab the ring to zip yourself in!!! So this is how to do the zipper for my husbands fleece pullover...thank you

I ordered those zippers from Amazon. They look so fun! I have a 2-1/2 yr old granddaughter I sew for. I think she's going to love them! Watching you sew on the bias tape was almost as informative as the zipper tutorial. Thanks.

I was thinking what fun those zippers would be on the front instead of buttons on a henley top!! I would probably take it out and redo it-but it all depends on the mood I'm in-sometimes I can leave "well enough alone" and other times it's such an obsession that I will get up at two in the morning and work on it until I've gotten it right!! LOL!! That being said, it probably is best to just leave it, as sometimes ripping something out just distorts the fabric and then you end up with something that is more problematic!! :+( However, I was thinking, what if on the next one, you finished it off with the neck binding on the outside(?) I concur-"wonder tape" is the only way to go!! :+) I cannot wait for the tut where the whole tape shows-I have some gorgeous zippers with rhinestones! Great tut, Whitney, good to see Gidget, however brief!! :+)

First, I agree that this would be a really cute feature on the front of a top. Mostly I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated this comment: “sometimes I can leave "well enough alone" and other times it's such an obsession that I will get up at two in the morning and work on it until I've gotten it right!! LOL!!”” I know exactly what you mean!!! What drives me crazy is trying to figure out why it’s so easy to let some things go and why others seem so insanely important! For example, on one project I spend days mulling over which color thread to use for topstitching, but I chose my buttons at the drop of a hat. It’s the same with sewing hiccups; sometimes they have to be redone or they’ll keep me up at night and other times I never give them a second thought! I mainly just wanted to thank you for posting your comment because it made me feel better about my “intermittent selective perfectionism.”

@@nadinewoods6971 Thank you, when I was younger I was most definitely a type A" personality-my daughter tells me I'm OCD-which may be true. However, I am more relaxed than I was in my younger years!! But, every situation is different!! ROTFL!!

Love listening to you troubleshoot on the fly.. #keepingitreal! I know you always trim your zipper at the top, but wondering if I could trim from the bottom in this case (so I don’t have to worry about eth etc)?

You can cut at the bottom, but you will need to put a new stop in at the bottom to keep the zipper together at the base.

Can you show us how to alter a pattern that uses an invisible zipper to use a regular exposed zipper. I also bought a massive bag of exposed zippers and hate having to buy a invisible zipper when I already have 30 regular zippers lol.

There is actually no pattern alterations needed to switch from invisible to exposed. As long as you adhere to the seam allowance included in the pattern, you can sew any of these zipper techniques in place of another one!

There is a zipper tool to remove teeth, I usually remove them and not sew over them, or have them be in the seam allowance. I use a beading tool for this, anything that will easily release the teeth. Personal preference, I’m sure, as I’ve watched enough of your videos you rarely (never say never) have removed teeth. FWIW.

I do remove teeth on occasion. I have the teeth removing tool, but what beading tool do you use?

@@TomKatStitchery sorry don’t know the name of it. It’s like a small round (with a handle) cutter, but has a hold in it. I’m explaining it badly, but really any cutting tool would work that has the ability to not cut the tape, or tear at it, but grab it to strip it off the tape. You have woodworking going on, I seem to recall you saying, being this to them and ask what would they use? To not hurt or mar the tape but hold it in place while you strip off the tooth you want removed. I’m not sure where mine is, but I will try and get a picture of it for you, I’ll DM or email you. (May not be right away. Life). But hope I gave you some ideas. Even Pliers would do it.
