I have a parrotlet and agree that these birds only do this because of the love from their owner and the trust the birds have for him. My bird will let me know when she is in the mood for training and loves it. The more challenging the better the treat and cuddles she gets.

Budgies aren't dogs. You can't be cruel to them to get them to do tricks. If they're afraid of you, they'll bite or run away. Technically, budgies are still considered wild animals, which is why most have to be tamed before they become friendly with humans. And they have no reason to trust humans as they are prey animals. So unlike dogs or cats, they're naturally fearful of humans. What this man does is remarkable, and those birds wouldn't work with him if they didn't trust him completely, and a bird will never trust you if you're cruel to it.

VeryNot Amen to that! Truly agree, the man's love and dedication for his budgies is the secret of this successful show.

It's not cruel at all. He's gently teaching them how to do tricks, like a footballer is trained how to dribble a ball and kick a ball a certain way to swerve it around the goalie. There are too many snowflakes around these days, looking for the next thing to moan about or take offence to.

If the birds are comfortable with it, They would do it. It doesn’t hurt them to learn tricks
