The Twisted Logic series is actually pretty good. It is like Super Hostile, whereas it is an adventure map, but survival first. So you can break blocks, kill animals, and such, but there is still a long term goal of the map.

Remember that mobs only move when within I think 32 blocks (please correct me if I'm wrong) so only near by levels will be changing- not sure how visible they'll be with water there so this may not be a problem. What I would do if I had your patience is build several chicken switches at the bottom and several chicken switchers at the top and wire each lamp so that it can be changed by a chicken from either end. That way the whole shaft will be glistening no matter where you stand.

A challenging suggestion from someone you don't know at all. Have the animal pens attached to the lens! That's right, you would have to place tracks all the way up and a lot of powered rails unless you can utilise the glitch that gives the minecart enough power to go extremely far with only a few powered rails. Makes sense to me to have the animals up there since you have your melon and pumpkin gourd farm there too and everything else you could ever need.

I absolutely love this idea! I love playing with light, both IRL and the game. Creative way to use this, can't wait to see the end. Personally I turn off void fog with Optifine, can't stand it. But since you want to keep it you'll probably have to add some air chimneys to let light in so you can appreciate the shaft better (as you said). Thanks for what you do I'm always inspired.

An idea to light the mine naturally: several glass columns running the length of the shaft and up to just under the water. More or less unnoticeable from the surface, but they still allow sunlight down into the mines eliminating the annoying void fog. I'm not sure what effect water over the top will have, but I think it wouldn't hind it much seeing as it's only 4 blocks at most.

Zsteau, at the bottom of your mineshaft, make a few holes going to the surface so the light can shine through allowing the void fog to disappear.

For a new custom map, you could check out Trial of the Old Ones. It's a series of three maps, all of which are pretty big, but not too big. It was made for an older version of minecraft, so it might be a bit of a pain to get working, but I think you'd find it worthwhile.

For the glow stone lamps you could make them be spaced out in an ever-increasing pattern such as the Fibonacci sequence. It might look cool and would require less resources and time.

Vechs said a while back he's working on Hostile Trails 2: Zooming Zisteaus, where it's zombie pigmen rather than pigs and assumedly in a nether-like environment, but I have no idea if he's still working on it, with all the other maps he's doing.

My brother find a nice short map, it is called 3-day survival. You have three days to figure out how to escape a bedrock cage. When time is up, lava pours. I recommend it.

You could do something like an underground city: put a whole bunch of rooms into the walls of the waterfall. I think that would be pretty cool.

expensive? 2 blocks of snow and a pumpkin. One of them gives unlimited snow and he has a good supply of pumpkins. Their height is different, but Zisteau put the chickens in 2 high spaces anyway.

Zisteau... I'd love to see you finish the super hostile map sea of flame. The original one. If you could do it in the old minecraft version you started it in.... That would be epic to have some of that nostalgia pumping and see how much your style has changed since then.

Zisteau, you should do Pigget Panic! It's by Vechs, and the concept is that you have to get a bunch of piggets across the map into the Victory Pen in an evil fortress. I played/completed it in about 3 days, playing a couple hours each time. That way, you wouldn't have any trouble completing it. It was really fun, and I think it would be a very funny thing to watch, with you being a zombie pigman and all.

I think having the lamps in the 8 "corners" of the mineshaft would be okay, just spiral it going downwards. Like move it over one every few levels you go down. That would be cool.

My suggestions - Super Docile: Canopy Basic, Super Hostile: Sunburn Islands, SethBling's Skygrid (more materials available for zisteaunian megaprojects than Skyblock), Vinyl Fantasy (might take too long though), or maybe a couple of Etho's speed challenges like the Treasure Hunt and the Companion Challenge. I personally would like to see you play Sunburn Islands with Kurt, he can use it for a milestone video even. =D

I suggest you play some of Vechs' other maps. If you want something easy, you can play Sunburn Islands, it also is kinda quick to do as it is really easy. I would love to see that done by you. Also you could play Lethamyr, Infernal Sky II, Canopy Carnage or Spellbound Caves. I hope to see some of that soon. Keep it up!

You can turn off the void fog in your options (optifine required). I believe it's called Depth fog or something.

Make an elevation in the middle of the shaft so the bedrock fog don't obstructs your vision to the Lens

Actually, there is another way. You basically make a dirt pillar with ladders on it. Than you basically pan your camera the same way he does it. Bdubs' showed this on a video of his.
