It's not easy to perform good when your team is on a much lower level. For example Ronaldo, he's better in Real Madrid cuz he's surrounded by better players. Just like Ibra in PSG.

But Ronaldo has already lead his 'Weak team' to the Round of 16 in the WC 2010, single handedly qualified them for the WC 2014, reached the EURO 2004 finals as a teenager, took his team to the EURO 2012 semifinals and became the top scorer of the Portuguese NT. Meanwhile Zlatan and Sweden have done little to nothing noteworthy on the international stage.

I hate the fact people emphasis his goal scoring record in recent years. Despite being impressive, it's mostly down to his teamates and PSG dominance in the League. With Di Maria, Verrati, Matudi, Lucas, Pastore, Cavani. If you put a striker of say a decent level like Giroud. I'm almost 100% sure that he would get similar numbers like Ibra in Ligue 1.

Being a Swede myself, I'm disappointed at the performance of our team but I'm not surprised. It should be clear that a football team with only one superstar must play in a way that suits a team with no stars at all. But in order to utilize the qualities of that star in any way, they have to unburden him to enable him to play to his strengths. But neither their tactics, nor their (lack of) individual qualities will allow them to do that. Unfortunately, Sweden has been slow on the counter and have insisted on playing a possession based style with plenty of short passing, which demands a lot of individual skills from everyone involved. When they lose possession, everyone also has to track back and become defensive, which happens a lot and is very tiring. They will eventually get hurt by sudden bursts of energy, as seen in the Italy game. Ibra also has a tendency to drop far back to collect the ball from midfield if he is not getting any service on the forward line. He did that a lot in the last CL games with PSG and also against both Ireland and Italy. Against Italy, he played more as a holding midfielder than an attacker, which effectively neutralizes his goalscoring threat. Unless they plan to rely on Ibras' set-pieces, Sweden has to change their style into a more fast-paced, counter-attacking game. The Euros have been a very defensive tournament so far, but the majority of goals seem to have been made on the counter, which would suit Zlatan a lot more than what they're doing now.
