What difference does it make? It makes all the difference in the world if your name is Bobby Caldwell, or James Brown or any of the myriad or original artists, producers, songwriters, band members that were responsible for CREATING original music out of nothing but your God-given brainpower and soul. Sure sampling is part of the music biz for everyone thanks to hip hop (and I've LOVED hip hop since before it was even on wax). But original artists should get credit for their creations!

First of all, I didn't even know this was originally a Bobby Caldwell song, so thank you and that's another beautiful song by him that I have discovered. But secondly, having just listened to Bobby's original, I do think you're comment is a little biased. This version is oozing class and the instrumentation (ALL of it, including vocals) is exquisite!

Did you know Phonte is more of a rapper? Goes to show you don’t know much about the Foreign Exchange and the good ORIGINAL music they put out. These tracks were put out FOR FREE as an exercise. All this is besides the point. The foundation of jazz music was based of reinterpreting existing music and making it their own. Hip-hop follows the same trajectory. If you can’t recognize that, then you failed as a “DJ”.
