When I bought my bombard 360 and futura mk2, Mike was very helpful in walking me through the whole process. The whole crew at IBC do a great job! Very pleasant place to do business!

yes, we like to show real world experiences with out of the box assembly. no camera tricks or time compression just straight and honest like you would receive a new boat in the box.thanks for the comment beri

I have one from the 80's. Have to patch it periodically but I still love it. I usually put some air in it first before installing the floor boards. I also found sliding the oars under the boat lifts the floor boards up a bit. This helps when locking in the side slats
@1upgreenshroon5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting this. It was very helpful. You must be better than myself as I needed two people jumping on the last boards to get them in to place... was scared I was gonna break something!

I have a 1969 g.r. mk3. valves all still work great. Slight leak in keel. I try to get it out once or twice a year. Still lots of fun.
@IBCPortland8 жыл бұрын
+Harley Wood that's great! most of the stuff I hear or see online about how their boat leaked or fell apart is 99.999% of the time on them and their lack of care of their boat. When things work great the inflatable boat gets no love but when something is wrong that's all you hear or see. It's a boat people, don't neglect it and you will get years of fun just like Harley Wood has.

I have a Zodiac 340 (11 feet 2 inch) bought in the 80's. It was designed for 15 HP and about 4 people. Zodiac obviously never changed the design. I can remember every step to get it in one piece. But...I didn't had electrical blowers. Only a manual air pump.
@IBCPortland11 жыл бұрын
A new MK2 Classic is a very tight boat, IBC recommends inflating it without the floor boards first then deflating it when you take delivery. This simple step will assist in fitting the floor boards as well as the stringers.

I have had all four types, inflatable tubes only, rigid bottom, wooden or alu floor boards and high pressure inflatable floor. I much prefered the inflatable floor. Many many sail cruising years in Canada, the USA and the Carribean. PVC does not last 1/2 as long as hypalon. I also call all of them de-flatables. In time they leak air. Joints become unglued.
@IBCPortland9 жыл бұрын
+Andre Laviolette no glue in a French welded pvc boat (unless they are really old), and the boats will last for as long as the care given to them no matter what material they are made of. Leave it out to die and it will just like anything else. I've used both types and have a more than a few miles sailing from the Arctic to the Antarctic and points between myself.

At least zodiac weld together as much as they can - tube seams, transoms, floors. They are worth the little bit of re-gluing every five years or so along the transom/ floor join. Not like most of the other crap on the market.

It would not be bad idea to stock up on some air At the beginning then add your floorboards. then everything becomes much easier and faster.
@IBCPortland10 жыл бұрын
we actually did it out of the box to show what you're in for without stretching or strain relieving the tubes(burping air into the boat). a new mk2 classic is very tight indeed out of the box and the factory sucks all of the air out for packing. when it's all sucked out it's more difficult to deal for sure. thanks for the comment!

Why is it so hard to find info about an inflatable eg length, hp rating, material used, type of seams (welded glued etc)? None of the inflatables show it
@jeansandmyshirt7 жыл бұрын
because some cheaper chinese made boats use same material and thickness pvc, and it'd be bad for zodiac's sales. hypalon loses air faster than pvc and it prone to damage from UV rays. you are better off saving money and getting a seamax, kodiac, or something thats not absurdly priced like the zodiac.

I wish you would have shown the box or bag that you took it out of so we could see how easy/difficult it is for one person to carry while packed up. Can you put it on a back pack type rig or do you need a hand truck or something?

This brings back (late 60s early 70s) memories for me when i bough my only brand new boat a Zodiac MK 1 10 foot 6 inches with wooden floor your boat must be later with its aluminium floor, with its Volvo Archimedes 25HP engine the MK2 was about 14 6 inches If i remember right n the MK2 compact about 12 foot something? but they are an extremely well build n very strong boats going by all the hammering my one had

@soleaguilarb9 жыл бұрын
The whole on the first wooden part doesn't align with the valve. Will it align on its own after finishing floor assembly and stretching it?
@raygunlabs9 жыл бұрын
Gonzalo Busso sometimes you need to put air in and let it out to get it to align, on this model there is bow rise that may give the illusion that it won't align. it usually does though.
@soleaguilarb9 жыл бұрын
I am trying to put it together, but even tough I am trying to leave any folds under the floor I seem to have troubles with it. I have a futura mk3. First time out of box, I'll see if the air helps me
@IBCPortland9 жыл бұрын
Gonzalo Busso try putting the bow bag under the bow when fitting the filoors. there is some bow rise in that design that if done flat will make your life hard. it should all align correctly once you have the rocker right.

Completely baffled as to why the camera angle keeps changing to a side view which means you can't see *anything* that the demonstrator is doing (nice butt, though!)! It seems like the filmmaker has done it just to show off his film-making skills! A few close-ups of what is engaging with what at appropriate moments would make a huge difference to the effectiveness of the video.
