@@salsero3982 She was not :) She was raised in NYC until her dad died. Then her mom took her to live in the Dominican Republic at the age of 9. She studied there, learned to dance there, and then went back to New York her 2nd year of high school.

I agree with what someone said, New York accents are a variation of different nationalities. There are Italian-New York accents, Jewish-New York accents, Puerto Rican-New York accents, Black-New York accents, etc.

Nooooo just no. Queens does NOT sound like the Bronx. We drag our words out and it is softer and more subtle and it literally has a lot going on within the accent as Queens is culturally very diverse so you may sound Latino, West Indian, a touch of Asian even depending where you go. Born and raised in Queens! Cardi B’s accent is wayyyyy different.

Billy Joe Riley She's from somewhere. So she sounds like she's from that somewhere. Pretty simple. Almost. Actors have to remove regional dialects to get cast, but never completely lose it unless they need it for a role. So they basically learn to control their natural dialect. So she is speaking deliberately even though it's her natural accent that she grew up with.
