Personally I loved Zoey’s reaction to finding out Max gave up the job for her because while I would agree that she can behave rather immaturely, selfishly, and overall make a simple situation worse with her “foot-in-the-mouth syndrome”, this was an instance of that that worked very well with the situation and the character because, at least to me, it’s pretty clear that her reaction isn’t, “Max how could you not tell me this; how could you not be honest with me; I should’ve known”, it’s “Max, I love you and maybe if you had told me what you did for me I would’ve realized that sooner and you wouldn’t be leaving me”. She’s just mad and frustrated at herself because it’s finally hitting her that she waited too long and she should have never let Max get away and she’s taking it all out on him.

This one reveal officially disproved anyone who called Max an “entitled nice guy.” He didn’t give up the position to get Zoey. He did it because she deserved it more than he did and she wanted it more than he did. I loved everything about the finale, and everything about this video! 💕

@@fabiolaspn All I heard all season one was how Max was a stereotypical “nice guy” (think promising young woman stereotype) and that he was only upset with Zoey because he felt “entitled” to have his feelings reciprocated. Not because she kept secrets, pushed him away for reasons he didn’t understand, and then promised to be honest while still not telling him everything. They say he’s toxic and controlling, and that’s why he and Zoey didn’t work. Not because she was refusing to process her emotions and said she was the problem. Not him. It’s like they are watching a completely different show, some of them.

@@salvamarquez See, the difference is I could write a essay like that for pretty much every character on the show and it doesn’t stop me from appreciating them as characters or having compassion for them. The people I’ve talked to who share this belief are all Simon shippers, and to them Simon can do no wrong, even when he’s exhibiting the exact identical behavior Max got criticized for previously. See the problem?

@@Book_Dragon2562 Yeah. After seeing that video, I was like wow, do people really think Max is the villain here?? Like promising young woman?? 500 days of summer?? Who did he take advantage of?? He put Zoey's happiness before his every single time. I guess Simon and Zoey must be perfect characters then. Max giving up his spot to Zoey without really knowing her is a really selfless thing, and keeping the secret until the end!? He could have used that to spite Zoey any time they were fighting and he didn't fall that low, not even when Zoey implied he was being promoted for reasons other than being a good coder. I think Max made some mistakes during his initial relationship with Zoey but "500 miles", 1x08 and 2x12 should convince doubters that he truly is a good guy. And he was right to be angry at Zoey when he heard her sing I want you to want me to SImon. She wasn't being honest with him about her true feelings!

I still understand why she was somewhat upset about it. After Max gave her a hard time for keeping things from him, she finds out that he's been keeping something very important to himself for years. I understand why he didn't tell her because he didn't need to, but from her perspective, I understand where she was coming from.

It’s beautiful to see how they still cared for each other eventought they weren’t together. Them exploding with each other was a way to show how they still loved each other, and it was quite painful to see it. Can’t wait for a history video of them? Lol

Their fight in 1x10 when Zoey calls him selfish and what he replies to her. It already made sense last year but it makes even MORE sense now!

Another thing to rewatch with new knowledge is that based on Zoey’s session is that she developed feelings for him first and not vice versa. She did say that she put him in the friend-zone quickly so that definitely explains why she wasn’t ready to start a relationship with him. Her fears of loss prevented her from pursuing it. Or it could have also been her rocky first impression of him as well.

This show was very fascinating I hope to watch more of it cause I really did enjoy it from what I've seen of it so far that is the two moment's from this show that stand out to me the most are Bernadette peters singing cheap thrills and that masterpiece of a sence that takes place during the gasoline song sequence

Through all the ups and downs, I always understood where both characters were coming from in terms of their fears, frustrations and insecurities. I would only defend Zoey a little more because I understood where she was coming from, related to her a lot more and couldn't always relate to Max's decisions. Though that might be because Zoey’s fears about failure and loss really hit home for me. I feel some people were being dismissive of her and I just don't view Max the same way that others do. While I do like him, I more often understood where she was coming from more than him and I liked so many other characters more than him. Max hurt her too but it seems everyone just always acts she was entirely the wrong for everything. Also, Max’s insecurities don’t warrant his bad behavior too. I also don’t like the double standard that Zoey can get criticized a lot but when Max gets criticized at all, you’re treated like the devil. Many have said that they like when he confronts his flaws but he really doesn't especially since the narrative doesn't address them as much as they should. Many people also ignore context with Zoey. Like her choosing to put her relationship on pause. Finally, the fact that so many thought that they made Aiden to make the fanbase hate Max showed how cynical they were and the fact that it seemed like they care far more about their favorite ship being canon than actual good storylines. I also hate how he didn't realize that the flash mob was a bad idea. He also doesn't understand that having feelings for someone does not equate being ready for a relationship. Like I said, I don't hate Max and I like that he is flawed like everyone else. My issues come from the fact that his flaws aren't really addressed and the narrative never seems to realize this.

A great video the fans of ZEP should be proud of. Zoey friend zoned Max to pursue an engaged Simon, only to cheat by sleeping with Max; and dump him to have sex with Simon, but not telling Simon her powers; then Simon ended it due to dishonesty; just in time for Max to dump Rose AT THE AIRPORT. Simon got lucky for they deserve each other. I left out the garage singer. Imo, if a man acted like Zoey.... *Simon built Zoey a stool, while Max can provide the pedestal she always wanted.*
