Anyone interested in this rice cooker would do well to search for videos regarding replacement of the onboard battery. It will stop working after a few years. Replacement should be done at a Zojirushi service center and is NOT cheap. That being said, it makes great rice of all types and oatmeal.

Such a well designed machine. I just wish they could’ve used standard cup measurement. I’m worried I’m going to lose the measuring cup that came with it.

The measuring cup is about 6 oz or 3/4 of a regular cup. This measurement is based on a traditional rice measuring cup called a masu and this is why it's a little different than the regular measurement. But as long as you measure 3/4 of a cup it will all match up with the interior water measure lines. I hope this helps!

Its a bit confusing, so when i already washed the rice, should i select Pre-washed rice or not ? Manual mentions it but not clear still. It says : "Pre-washed rice(Musenmai) is a new type of rice that does not require washing" meaning if your rice is Musenmai type of rice then just cup the rice out of its bag ,add water to the right level, next you have to select Pre-Washed rice for cooking. And that is it, let it cook. Am I missing the point ?

If you've already washed your rice, you don't need to select the pre-washed rice option. Just proceed with the regular rice cooking settings. The pre-washed rice option is specifically for Pre-washed rice (Musenmai) that doesn't require washing. Hope this helps!

Hi there! You can keep rice warm for up to 12 hours with this model using the Extended Keep Warm function to prevent it from drying out. However, we don't recommend keeping cooked rice in a rice cooker for more than 12 hours, as we can't guarantee its freshness after that. Our IH + Pressure models can keep certain settings warm for up to 24 hours. For basmati rice, you can cook a minimum of 1 cup in the 10-cup model, but a 5-cup rice cooker should be more than sufficient for one person. Hope this helps!

Hi there! This rice cooker is only able to keep rice in keep warm for 12 hours. Keeping rice longer than 12 hours, the rice may spoil which can leave an unpleasant odor in the rice cooker. If this has happened, you can try steam cleaning it by adding water up to the 2 line, no rice needed. Then, start a quick cooking setting. Once it's done, dispose of the water, clean the pan and inner lid, and wipe the rice cooker down. We would also strongly recommend on not keeping rice in the rice cooker for longer than 12 hours. May I please ask you about what model to select? On your homepage, do you indicate that some of your other models without Neuro is superior in cooking rice, compared to the Neuro? Hi there! The Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker is great at cooking rice and is beloved among our customers. The advantage of the Neuro Fuzzy technology is that it allows you to select the texture of the rice (hard, regular, soft) without you needing to make any adjustments for the water or quantity of rice. However, based on your needs a 3 cup rice cooker will be better suited for you. We would recommend the NS-LHC05, it has fuzzy logic technology, all your basic setting along with a dedicated Jasmine Rice setting. It can cook a small amount of rice for one person and the 3 cups of rice once cooked will roughly double in volume which is plenty for 3 people. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

I get the keep warm and re-heat functions of this cooker but what about the delay function? To use this feature I'd have to put rice and water together and leave it that way for up to 13 hours before cooking? I've never soaked rice for that long in cold water. Wouldn't it just dissolve?

Hi Katrina, when cooking Jasmine rice we recommend to measure the water and rice using the rice measuring cup that is included with the rice cooker. For every cup of jasmine rice measured, 1 ¼ cup of water should be added. The rice should be cooked using the regular/sushi rice setting. Please ensure that the rice is rinsed before cooking to get rid of the excess starch that may cause it to be sticky. We hope this helps!

Afte the course is selected, press the COOK or START button and it will turn on a little light. That means it's working. It will first soak the rice, then it will start to heat up and cook the rice. Hello - I have recently purchased the Neuro Fuzzy Rice cooker and have some red and brown Jazmine Rice mix. I measured one cup using your clear measuring cup and poured water to the 1 cup line in the stainless bowl. After pressing the brown rice button on the menut then the cook button, it didn't let me know when the rice was done as there was no alarm sounding. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to guess when the rice is finished cooking?

Rice first, then water--the rice displaces some of the water, and the water lines in the pan account for this. If you put water first, then rice, you'll end up using more water than is called for. Hope this helps!

Add the rice first per the instructions. The water level marks inside the cooking vessel are calibrated to adjust for the volume of water displaced by the rice. If not to your liking, make a few test batches and adjust the water slightly each time. My preferred rice texture may not be the same as yours. Once you dial in your preference, the Zojirushi should be able to duplicate it perfectly. I love my Zojirushi rice cooker and, no, I do not work for the Zojirushi company- just a satisfied customer.

It depends on individual, Cuckoo Korean rice cookers tend to cook more softer and soggy rice, if you like soggy rice, definitely go for it. While Zojirushi goes for more towards Japanese and Chinese rice texture. Hope that helps :)
