This has honestly been the most helpful tutorial I have ever had. I just got the 12 and I was updating from the 6s. It was a nightmare trying to figure it on my own because of the backups I was trying to do on Icloud. One thing to note, if you want to do a direct transfer from iPhone to iPhone like he did in the video, make sure that both phones are on the same software version, otherwise it won't give you the option to transfer directly.

Issue I ran into is that the 12 they sent me did not have the latest version of IOS. I had to switch the SIM right away and then begin the setup. That's the only way it will update the app so that you can transfer data wirelessly.

@@Defaultpov it does use Bluetooth and I don’t think there will be a chance that it could disconnect just make sure the 2 phones are close together and leave them there Undisturbed since it’s a bigger download it will take longer to transfer

itll actually pop up on your apple watch and it automatically backs up, unpairs and then re-pairs with your new phone all in one go as if nothing happened

Upgraded from a 6s to a Pro Max 12. Since I had just backed up the 6s with Itunes I thought I would try to do the transfer with Itunes. My logic was that it would be faster. Big mistake on my part! After stubbornly trying the wrong way for hours I used the method in this video and had it completed in about 45 minutes. It took longer to do the software upgrade than the actual transfer. FYI Itunes would start the restore then disconnect the new phone repeatedly. Thanks so much for this video. Very well done!

Arron, would be good to mention that some banking apps you have to remove your credentials on your old phone before deleting or transferring it to the new one. Otherwise you may find yourself having to phone your bank to get online banking working again. Great videos as usual👍🏻

I learned the very hard way transferring an iphone 6 to an iphone 12 pro that you need to activate the new phone first. This was not really indicated in the instructions anyhwere and I had to search on apple support which confirmed it. Spent countless hours with it stuck saying "transferring" and it was not able to complete since the new phone wasn't activated. Once I activated it worked like a charm in about 20 minutes!

I bought my iPhone 12 two weeks ago and hadn't transferred from 6S cause I was so crazy busy, a little buyers remorse (my old phone was still working fine you know), an d a little fear (Verizon support went AWOL probably cause of covid). @Nitro Brazil, thanks for pointing it out. This is exactly what I was told as well! When we pre-ordered, our provider sent us a bunch of emails. In one of those emails, was information on the number to call to activate.

I just did this with my old iPhone going from iPhone XR to iPhone 12. The process is fairly easy but it did take about 15 minutes altogether.

That's what it looks like. Tis feature was introduced in iOS 13 I believe.

No, but backups are a safety measure. I have iCloud backup and configurator 2 encrypted backup on the Mac.

Yes I suggest because not everything transfer next thing you know you missing phone numbers photos etc. I suggest you still back up phone.
