After my daughters death 4 years ago, I have not been able to go to sleep on my own. This drug has given me peace and the ability to get a good nights rest. I don't abuse it as I am so thankful for it. I take 5mg when I go to bed and if I wake up during the night I take 5mg to help me get back to sleep.

A trip that lasted at least 2 hours and which ended with a so good sleep, the kind of sleep I used to have as a child. I have once tripped on zolpidem, I took 20mg (I started with alergy testing, then took the first 10 mg and added the next 10 after an hour or so), I felt dizzy af and I had blurred vision. I saw photos in my computer pulsing and slowly moving, turning from 2D into 3D, I also heard them whispering, it felt like the persons and/or animals there were trying to escape the photos. It was pretty fascinating but the sedating effect was extremely ovewhelming but I think that combining this with coffee, energy drinks or cocaine is plain nuts so I went to sleep - and it was a very awesome sleep. The next day I found out that I ate a whole bag of tangerines, I had no memory of it.

I can speak for the anterograde amnesia. I was training to be a nurse(RN) and using it to go to sleep early so I could train in the ICU at 6:30 AM. The amount of short term memory loss astounded me, having to remember lots of highly technical information that early in the AM. It must have still been affecting memory as late as the next morning. I almost flunked the practical examinations due to strange - at least to me - profound loss of memory of things that were told to me one minute and needed to be regurgitated the next. I just refused to admit to myself it was the Ambien that was doing it. Somehow, I made it through, just passing. It was embarrassing, as it I hadn't been paying attention to the instructors. I learned a good lesson. On a latter occasion, when I didn't have to learn anything new, I found that after a few nights I experienced hangover that felt like I had the flu. Ewww. I just quit taking it altogether and take a benzodiazepine(

I will be trying Zolpidem for the 1st time tonight. My doctor prescribed it because the hormone treatments I'm getting for prostate cancer are wrecking my sleep pattern. He prescribed taking a 5mg and cut it in half. My hormone treatments end in two months and then I should no longer need the Zolpidem. He did tell me to make sure I'm already in bed when taking the pill. Apparently, it kicks in pretty fast.

Zolpidem is seriously strange. With its chemical structure and the way it works on GABA receptors I guess it could be considered a close relative of benzodiazepines. I sometimes take half a miligram of xanax/alprazolam during stressful days/events, but I gotta tell you, the way zolpidem works is so much different. Alprazolam just calms me down, but zolpidem gave me a crazy 25-30 minute high where: - I had a moderate euphoria, - my anxiety was basically gone (I suffer from it) - I was more talkative, more open, and had positive feelings towards other people, - felt stimulated despite the fact that this is technically a CNS depressant. Quite an experience. It didn't really help me sleep and I saw that due to its effects I would probably start abusing it, so after taking it 3 or 4 times I quit.

This is really the best thing to knock you out fast. I remember I would take it so I could force myself to go to sleep, but I would be watching KZbin or something and I didn't want to sleep just yet. I actually think my light ambient use in early 2020 is the reason why most drugs, like LSD and Psilocybin have a ridiculously increased threshold- it fried my GABA receptors or something. I personally have effects from just 10 mgs...and I weigh 250lbs. I have open eye visuals. It's most pronounced when looking at screens, like video ges or movies. Whatever the main focus of the screen is, it will make that thing appear to be 3-D. Like it's popping right out of the screen. It's actually a very pleasant experience and somewhat euphoric. More so than Xanax or other benzo or benzo like things. It feels like it takes over my while central nervous system and for a couple hours everything is smooth sailing. When I was an IV heroin user, there were only two things that would help with withdrawal. Well, three counting Suboxone or methadone. But anyway, yea, Ambien and gabapentin or pregabalin (lyrica). But the Ambien was the best short term relief. It's like it hijacks your body and doesn't let you experience the negatives. Unless you take too many....then you could start having looping thoughts...which is super worrying. But not really serious.... anyway, that's my experience.... All in all I give Ambien a 3/10 for intended use. And a 9/10 for off label/recreational/ therapeutic use. Addendum: these effects only occur when I've taken the medicine on an empty stomach.

@@Angel-yp6nl yeah, it's the least I could do. Once I took an entire bottle in less than 2 days. Because of the euphoria. I don't remember much about that time but I remember I didn't die or overdose. At least not in a dangerous way (that I could tell anyhow)... Ambien also helps a LOT with benzodiazepine withdrawal. It takes the symptoms away for about 2 hours per 10mg dose. However after a couple doses you start getting the other, less desirable effects. Like it changes the way things taste to me, it causes me to feel like I'm going to vomit (though it's not anxiety inducing). And of course, the hallucinations. Not fun in the middle of benzo withdrawal. Better to stick to valium or librium for withdrawal.

I have just a couple more things you should consider. For each drug class (Opiates, SSRI's, Non-Benzodiazepines Hypnotics, Stimulants; you get the point) try and stick to a different color for each, so visual learner's like me, can see "Oh it's green in the thumbnail and background, it must be about a [insert drug class here] substance". I know this might be very near impossible, but you can group all opiates with a color, all anti-depressents with a color (even if they are SSRI or a completely different chemical make up), all Benzodiazepines with a color, all antibiotics; again you're smart so you see what I'm going with here. You don't need to do a separate color for each sub-category. One last thing is consider adding some ambient music or noise in the edit, but level it to where it's barely audible, but still provides a calming experience. Your voice is perfect for drug education.

Promethazine is far weaker than Zolpidem and additionally, if used daily for a long time like me for insomnia, it causes Parkinson type hand tremors which, I still suffer, the Nuerologist took me off them and they had to replace it with Zoplicone and Ativan mixture with Valium on top at times.

Please discuss how adding the Tartrate molecule changes the drug. Is Zolpidem (without the tartrate part of the molecule) available anywhere. I used to take zolpidem from Bristol laboratories and I'm sure it said zolpidem only on the packaging, no tartrate word after. Found it immensely useful for knocking me out - just 5mg was enough. I now have some that has tartrate on it and it is not nearly as effective as the other kind I used to take - 5mg doesn't touch me and 10mg sometimes doesn't work either.

The machines were are all working but the layout didnt make sense. I also saw these fractal like ''tube'' things forming on top of everything filling up the room. A second time i did Ambien by myself. I had a bottle of 30 pills. I took 2 and dont remember anything from that night. I noticed in the morning all of the pills were gone ''vaguely remember taking all of them''. Luckily i never left my bed room. Compulsive redosing is a thing with this stuff. Be careful.

About 20 years ago, my roommates and their friends used to take if as a party drug. They loved how they would do things they may not normally do such as run around the pool naked. Although they were a fun group to hang out with, I never tried the substance in such a way. Just observed, enjoyed and reported back to them in the morning of their actions. Zolpidem is scary for recreational use, imagine taking a benzodiazapine but with much greater disinhibition and mental + physical impairment. Everytime ive done it i always end up taking at least 100mg bc the disinhibition leads me to wanting to do more and i also tend to want to drink alcohol while on it. I always end up in stupid situations where i could have hurt myself and others or gotten arrested. Benzos make me do stupid shit but its nowhere near as bad as ambien and i tend to not redose with benzos which is something that happenes everytime i take zolpidem. I have gotten visuals but its not something i really trip from its just brighter colors and extremely blurry vision. I dont think ill ever touch ambien again because the effects are not that euphoric to justify how stupid it makes me

i was given ambien when i was 2 days into no sleep due to xanax withdrawal and was losing my mind. it was a bad idea. it gave me the most odd/intense/vivid hallucinations i've ever had. so don't let the doc give you ambien if you're trying to quit benzos and just want to get some sleep. lamictal is what finally let me get some sleep and come back to the real world.

Followed the recommendation of my therapist and phsychiatrist to get my insomnia fixed I took the preciption went to the drug store. Now have this in my home, but I never touched, the fear getting addicted is way higher as my desire to sleep. A view days later I visited my GP, he gave me Quetiapine. I'd be interested in a video on Sonata. Had been prescribed 10mg Ambien for 3 years until 2013 when the FDA cracked down on the dose for women. I was bumped down to 5mg and didn't care for that so I got switched to Sonata (zaleplon) 10mg and have been with it ever since. Well, with the exception of about 10 months when I was pregnant and I had to go cold turkey from Klonopin and Sonata and swap out for Benadryl. That ended up making me drowsy during the day for anxiety, and gave me a drowsy hangover effect for sleep, so I got switched to 5mg Ambien because the FDA knows very little about Sonata during pregnancy. In my opinion, Sonata is the lesser of 2 evils as far as popular z drugs go, so that annoyed me; I would have felt much safer taking 5mg Sonata during that time. And before you judge me and tell me I'm a terrible parent for having taken a prescription sleeping medication while pregnant, I also had HG so severely I lost an unhealthy amount of weight and was in rough shape, so this was the only thing that could get me to sleep and sometimes even eat (that and Zofran) My son is 14 months, happy, healthy, and intelligent ❤️

I don't remember any of this. I woke up in jail 40 miles away with a DUI charge. The highway patrol told me i kept saying i was "going camping" ...in the middle of winter with bare feet. This one was interesting to say the least. I'm used to temazepam, which I take irregularly when needed, and when I take that, I wait for the first signs of it kicking in before I go to bed. Well, you really shouldn't do that with this one. In my case the first dose probably messed up my short term memory which most likely caused me to re-dose up to 4 times. I also started to hallucinate, but I wasn't aware of that. But I talked to my mother who died decades ago, and I'm pretty sure there aren't beautiful rainbow-colored spiders the size of a dinner-plate in my house; or anywhere else on this continent for that matter. This might sound weird and/or like a nightmare, but at the time it all seemed perfectly normal. My spouse woke up to me stoned out of my mind drinking coffee while talking to invisible people and cleaning up imaginary spiderwebs. Apparently I had no clue I was tripping balls, and only realized something had been "off" the next day. I was fairly easily directed to bed were I passed out for the next 8-9 hours. It was really interesting and tbh in retrospect also rather scary. And it was the last time I ever bothered with those pills.

Talked with my Dr about it and she said well there's nothing more I can give you. Erm...how about let me try a different sleep aid? I'm 36 and have never had a prescription wrote for me. Zero sleep is bogus. I think its also responsible for giving me intense body jerks. If I close my eyes and try to sleep, I'll get a vicious jerk somewhere on my body.

It is a bit of an exaggeration at the moment to say it causes cancer because the main evidence for that effect is in the form of epidemiology studies where an association between cancer and how much people use sleep drugs is seen. That does not mean the drugs are directly causing cancer, only that *something* may be linking the two. This is a fair reason to limit your use if zolpidem is not a truly vital drug to be on, but I would not get too concerned based on the data so far.

Simply put, Xanax is a benzodiazepine and Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine. They share some similar qualities, but Zolpidem is basically just used for sleep as a hypnotic. Benzos like Xanax and Valium are used for anxiety, muscle relaxation and so on, but they also can induce sleep.
