This is a first impressions look at the Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime. Zom 100 looks to be one of the better shows of the season, and maybe of the year. This video will give an overview of the story and why this is such a popular anime, with no spoilers for the main plot. I'll give you my impressions of the first two episodes and explain why Zom 100 helped me to finally understand what the big deal is with zombies.
A couple of notes that I had to cut from the script:
-Keep an eye out for switches in the aspect ratio. The show starts with a "widescreen" aspect ratio as Akira is watching a movie, and switches to today's standard 16:9 ratio to show his real life. The show will often switch to that wider cinematic aspect ratio when it wants to imply that Akira's life is like a horror film. (It does this for all of his flashback, for instance, and only cuts back to the "real life" ratio when he declares his freedom during the zombie chase).
-The OP has already grown on me just by watching the episodes again to get some clips. I really like it now!
-I love that the initial splotches of color on the zombie gore start out in RGB (red, green, blue). These are the three base colors that digital color in movies and computers are built off of, and the rest of his world starts building off of those colors until we get a full-color world. Kind of a cool detail.
-Minor detail, but at 4:53 I refer to the mochi Shizuka wants as "cherry flavored," when it's actually a sakura mochi (a pink mochi wrapped in a cherry tree leaf and often filled with bean paste).

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I still need to finish the episodes that came out after the production delay; I think I'll watch those this weekend.
