It looks like we are starting to see the middle market come back to life (outside of VR) which is fantastic. There have recently been some very well done $30-$40 games from known studios. The indie scene tried to replace the middle market but production quality suffered a bit even though we got some amazing ideas. A health games industry needs a middle market and this game is a perfect example of one. Of course it could just be a byproduct of being so close to a new generation of console and will vanish again after they release. Hopefully that's not the case. The middle market started to (quickly) die about the time ps3 was released and we lost allot of creativity from the bigger companies with it.

I hope the middle market is starting to thrive again--the gaming world needs them. Not every title needs to be a bombastic COD: Black Ops Ranger Shoot 32XXL Sometimes, a bigger budget than indie--but not as big as AAA titles are the sweet spot.

I was elated by the release of Saber's World War Z in 2019. Sometimes it's fun to discover new ways to scratch that old Left for Dead itch. Rebellion has taken quite a bit of stuffing out of their gloves with Zombie Army 4, really going out of their way to streamline an experience that's already known for being a straight forward A to B gore-fest. Trust me, if you're a fan of comedic B-movie horror (Evil Dead, The Dead Don't Die,) you'll be right at home in this easter-egg laden horror homage. Though I'm still excited to see Hunt Showdown debut on consoles later this month, it'll be hard to pull myself away from Zombie Army 4. This is the best effort I've seen so far from this particular studio. Congrats Rebellion! And, likewise, a big thanks to ACG for once again covering another overlooked gem . . .

The attention to detail is amazing in this game. It feels like every corner was planned extensively and the game likes to reward you for taking your time and exploring. I just wish they would reward me for being a medic... Pros: ringing bells Cons: using half your ammo to heal your team and ending up the bottom of the scoreboard for life. P.s. Personally, I like being able to leave the occasional survivors to tell tales of my conquest, and it feels like the walking dead.

I got this for the switch it’s so much fun! I love the the fire remixes of the soundtrack from Trilogy and the characters have their own perks and unique dialogue so you the player can listen to their character’s thoughts instead of having little to no dialogue which keeps the game interesting. Definitely worth a shot in my book

I’ve noticed some games use anti-cheat software which is usually incompatible with nearly everything. That might be why your benchmark wasn’t working. I can’t play any Ubisoft games because of my RGB and their anti-cheat software, sometimes I can’t even run FPS counters.

is it just me, or does it have a completely different flow from 1 and 2? I'm a big fan of the first 2 games, it required some strategy with traps and precision with the rifle for how large the horde was. But this...this makes me want to go back to L4D2

I've played the zombie war trilogy and found it enjoyable so with that said, this game was a sleeper for me. I'm sure I'll enjoy it especially with friends. the upgrades for weapons and 100 lvls to chew through will keep me busy, atleast until doom eternal releases :)

Good review. I really enjoyed Zombie Army Trilogy. To have so much of this one to be just like the other one is more than fine with me. It was a pleasant surprise at last year's E3 to see this revealed. The schlocky romp in good taste with the creative humor and musicality with the scenery and gore, I'm about forsure. The arcade-like simplicity of the gameplay has always been a positive draw on me as well. It's a good mix for simple, clean fun. And you know what they say about zombies in video games: They never stay dead. Lol. Cheers.

I think that I speak for some people out there when I say this. Zombie video games have been over saturating the market for a very long time. If you play one zombie video game then you've essentially played them all with the exception of a few titles such as, Left for Dead, Dying light, Resident Evil, The Evil Within etc.. Having said that, I have absolutely no interest in buying Zombie Army 4 Dead War. However, I still enjoyed the informative and detailed review. Thanks as always Karak. Keep it up!

I'm actually curious about this game. SE4 was the first game in the series that I enjoyed as I felt the mechanices were solid enough to not be aggravating and I stopped treating it as a FPS and more as a shooting puzzle. Whenever I did shoot it out with the enemy, it was decent enough, but it was unsustainable because you'd get mobbed/flanked. However, with zombie hordes that would actually play well, I think. Still, might wait for a sale, as it isn't my friends cup of tea, and this definitely seems the kind of game you want to co-op.

@@cheek077 I've played L4D 1 & 2 as well as WWZ and the comparison is very warranted. They have the same director A.I, enemy types and gameloop. The only defining difference is 3rd person vs 1st. Maybe WWZ doesn't hit you in the nostalgia personally, but the comparison is very fair.

I respect your opinion, but mine is different. I've played all three and World War Z felt more like a hybrid of the Division and a little of Gears. L4D feels more arcade than WWZ which kind of lent itself to a more general audience. Plus L4D is almost 10 years old so it's a product of it's time. Like lightning in a bottle. Pretty much impossible to replicate that today as all things must pass.
