An amazing song, it was written about the death of Johnathan Ball age 3, and Tim Parry age 12, who had been killed by an IRA terrorist bomb in England, they were out buying mothers day cards. Always makes me a bit teary. Larry I'm sure this fact will hit you hard, Tim died in his father's arms. Both boys deserved a beautiful song like this to commemorate their young lives.

@@beatlesgirl2782 I remember it on the TV news, I remember thinking, stuff like that never happens in towns like Warrington, they usually targeted large cities like Manchester, Birmingham and London, it was so sad. However I think it was tragedies such as this and the earlier bombing in Enniskillen, that started the backlash against the IRA by normal everyday people in Ireland and eventually led to the peace agreement.

@@simply_psi I wasn’t living there at the time but I remember my cousin telling me that she was at home getting ready to go into town when the first bomb went off outside Boots on Bridge street and shortly after the second bomb went off She said her house shook. If it had happened half an hour later she would have been there. 2 dead and 56 injured 😢

I think Cranberries were a bit of a one-hit wonder in the zeitgeist, but technically they had 12 singles in the top 75 in the UK. The only other one I know vaguely (after consulting the chart) was Linger, which also got to #14 in 1994. It's a nice enough song but doesn't have the same impact, probably because Zombie is a protest song in response to the IRA Warrington bombing - the band were touring the Northwest of England at the time, so it was an inspired song that probably came to singer Delores O'Riordan very quickly, as these things sometimes do. The only other suggestion I have is another song about the Northern Ireland conflict called Invisible Sun by The Police. It's not a song that immediately comes to mind with The Police, but I always liked it. As far as the politcs goes, I'll just say what I was told when I worked in the Province in 1997 - "anyone who tells you that they understand the politics of Northern Ireland doesn't understand the politics of Northern Ireland" - and I think that's the truth!

There was severe flooding in London at the weekend so I think our mauling by the 'Beast of Biscay' was comparatively light. Birmingham is used to rain because it's on higher ground - it normally gets the relief rainfall that doesn't fall on Wales!

Ankudinova is an absolute must. Start with her cover of "Wicked Game." As is Angelina Jordan. Start with "I Put A Spell On You." She has over 130 songs on KZbin, including a handful of her originals (most of her videos are covers, but most of those are better than the originals.)

I don't know much Cranberries music. They never really appealed to me, although I DO like this song. Delores (RIP) had a great voice...so sad that she passed away. Another rock song that has a lot of views is Guns N' Roses - November Rain (1.6 billion views!) & Sweet Child O Mine (1.2 billion) and Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (1.3 billion). Anyways, my point is that there ARE other rock songs with many views. Speaking of Nirvana, I have never seen them reacted to on your channel. Do they get blocked a lot?
