My sister passed Feb 20th, 2015. She was 13 years older than me and introduced me to this many years ago. We used to jam all the time. I played this song at her funeral and it was such a perfect song. This is the first time I've listened to it since. I know she would have been proud. In loving memory Gone but Never forgotten. Love ya sis this is for you. Kristal Jean Hollomon October 15th, 1979 - February 20th, 2015. She had to be free but somehow I've got to carry on...

I am so sorry. I loss my brother when he was 15 yrs old with another boy14 yrs old from across the street. They fell through the ice hitting a hockey puck back & forth along the lake. They search for a week. Another boy found their hockey puck on the ice for the night they went missing there came a blizzard. My brother had been holding onto the edge of the ice, gloves off. It took me, I don't know 20 years or more that I could speak about it without choking up. Loss makes one different, viewing relationships, searching for God in a meaningful way so you understand He is always with you in this fallen world. Pray & know God and His Son Jesus, not just distantly know "of Them." God sees your tears. GBY my friend.

Lost my mom to cancer three years ago. I'm a young father who messed up royally, and she had sold many of her treasured possesions to help me pay for a lawyer and court costs so I could keep custody of my daughter. I had so many problems and I was far too nieve to realize the severity of the situation at hand. She taught me unconditional love and how to be a Dad. How I wish I could be with her tonight sharing our taste in music and so I could show her how far I've come with my daughter and I's relationship. We were poor financially but our passions kept us lively. She loved music and she loved this band. God I miss her.

thank you all, I sit here playing guitar softly while my daughter plays minecraft, ( stimulates creativity and eye cordination, in my mind). on the counter that sits above us, the mural I set up for my mom, pictures and ribbons from horse shows, some trinkets and odds and ends that hold deep meaning, and I can't help but feel she's here with us. All your kind words mean a lot. Music is far more than just sound, it is a medicine and a life of it's own. Rock on everyone.

2haveFREEDOMpriceles, She plays with building blocks and tames wild cats and dogs. She's fine. She knows how spell stupify too. Your first comment made me smile so much, as for the second- not looking for advice concerning parenting and government propaganda, on a thread dedicated to how much nostalgia this song gives me about my Mother. I assure you, I could protect my child, bare handed, better than you could protect yourself with a weapon. I thank you, for around 50% of your words sir
@doggiepop56258 жыл бұрын
2haveFREEDOMpriceles, THE TIME IS NOW CHILDREN, OPEN YOUR INVENTORIES! SCROLL TO THE DIAMOND PICKAXE, NOW PRESS X CHILDREN! SPREAD FEAR IN THE NAME OF THE EMPIRE! Then by your logic, you shouldn't have the internet, or a computer, or a cellphone. wouldn't wanna support an empire with those would you? Yes this empire will fall, yes we are fucked, but not because my child wants to build a house for her horse. go spew shit on something else, not a young man's mourning over his dead mother, telling him to protect his child more. don't think you're a freedom fighter- you're garbage. I know my country is fucked up but that's not what I posted about originally, now is it? At first I thought you weren't an American or something, but then I realized how utterly tasteless that comment was, you're definitely American haha.

I love listening to this song it reminds me of my father playing it on his fender 12 string electric acoustic music was his life he played music every chance he got, he learned to play by ear he could play just about anything he heard he was a descent singer as well. Out of no where one morning he woke up with a splitting headache and felt weak he couldn't strum it without messing up he tried and tried but with as stubborn and strong as he was he didn't see a doctor unless he had no choice, music was his medicine he still tried playing but after a few days. the sickness got worse to the point where he all the sudden had no feeling in his right arm and he could hardly even talk he was rushed to hospital and discovered it was brain cancer. he suffered like that for 4 months until he recently passed away, listening to this song reminds me of the times he was happy rocking in his favorite chair ,playing, and singing. i can still hear his voice and his beautiful music... R.I.P Dad i'm going to learn to play guitar just like you always wanted me to.

I just wish my generation would bless themselves with this music.. I'm 18 years old and not one of my peers can name a Lynyrd Skynyrd song if their life depended on it. Stop listening to pop music and start listening to the beautiful classics.. Maybe then we wouldn't be such a stuck up, self centered generation. Teens just can't see the true beauty in music when their lives are sucked up by Top 40's.

"My name is Happy Gilmore. Ever since I was old enough to skate, I loved hockey... wasn't the greatest skater though. But that didn't stop my dad from teaching me the secret of slapping the greatest slapshot. My dad worshiped hockey, my mom didn't, that's why she moved to Egypt, where there's not a hockey rink within 15 hundred miles. Dad always took me to games to cheer for our favorite player, Terry O'Riley, the Tazmanian Devil. He wasn't the biggest guy in the league, but he feared nobody, just like me. (shot of dad's face) Handsome fellow huh? He always said that when I grew up I could be anything I wanted to be, but I never wanted to be anything but a hockey player. Yeah my childhood was going great, but life is full of surprises. After the funeral, I was sent to live with my grandma in Waterberry. I was kinda nervous since I really didn't know her that well, but she dressed like Gene Simmons from KISS to cheer me up, she's the sweetest person in the world. See after my dad died I developed kinda a short fuse. You see that kid over there just stole my party blower, and instead of asking for it back, I felt that I had to belt him in the head a bunch of times with a hammer. Look at me go. But I was always quick to say I was sorry. During high school I played junior hockey and still hold two league records; most time spent in the penalty box, and I was the only guy to ever take off his skate and try to stab someone. After I graduated I had a lot of different jobs; I was a road worker, a janitor, a security guard, a gas station attendant, and a plumber. Lately I've been working construction, it's not a bad racket, I'm a pretty good shot with a nail gun, but one day my boss, Mr. Larson, uh got in the way. Apparently he also has a short fuse. Look at that monster. He got a few lucky punches in there, but I still feel I won the fight. Anyways, those other jobs weren't for me. I was put on this planet for one reason, to play hockey."

I have been playing guitar for some time. I never had any lessons just from others teaching me stuff here and there. Most music I learned was in the Navy. Just a few guys teaching each other what we knew. SO being on a ship we never had much room to practice out loud. We did the best we could and learned what we could. I took my guitar and later on my banjo with me all over the world. It helped me cope with being away from home. I have a Desert Storm guitar and Banjo. I am on you tube almost everyday trying to learn something new. I had a stroke and could not play for a year but I am still doing the best I can. Learning new stuff is not as easy after the stroke...............

This song was playing June 29, 2021…a tuesday when i lost my fiance suddenly from a stroke. He just fell face face down. His last words were …”hey ! you know what i think we should do fir our wedding ?!” We were planning to be married on aug 28, 2021. We were just talking about the wedding the night before. I will never know what he was planning to tell me. What was he excited to do for our wedding???!!! When they put him in a body bag… I was in a wheelchair and asked if i could touch his face just one more time…. the last time… As I touched his face, this song popped up on his youtube playlist that was streaming on tv. Why this song ? On a Tuesday of all days. Damn it’s been almost two years and I still miss our late night esoteric talks til 4 in the morning,.. or smoking weed and laughing and playing and then making love. I miss you so much Papa Bear. Will I ever love anyone as much as i loved you ? We shared everything…every intimate and uncomfortable detail about ourselves with each other. Now you’re gone. With the wind. A shoutout to my caregiver Vanessa Reyes from Las Cruces New Mexico. Without her, I would have been an isolated shut in and would have drank and eaten myself to death. But I’m still here….and my heart is broken. How do I move on ??? Someone tell me!!! I lost my daughter once in my arms and I tried to kill myself in 2004. But when Dave left me suddenly like this…it ripped a hole in my heart that never healed. I can’t even have sex without turning into a basket case because I miss the way Dave used to make love to me. God why did you take him from me ? My life was just start to make sense and then you did this to me ? I love you David Michael Young March 5 1959 to June 29, 2021 ❤

Every time I hear this song I cry bc this song puts into words just exactly what my heart and mouth couldn’t explain when my mama died. I cared for her and watched her suffer so much for nine years. I never appreciated Skynrd as much as I should’ve until the day she left us. So much more meaning to pull the heart strings. Rest peacefully, my sweet mountain mama June 28th 2016 💞

Sad, sad song, especially in light of what happened Oct. 20, 1977. I was just out of high school & going to Vo-Tech that morning when the news broke. Still hurts even now. What a band & what a future they had. Such a tragedy. So many what if's about the plane & pilots. They could've easily made it but IF is a big word. Never will be another band like LS & the Honkettes. Now Gary Rossington is gone too as the last surviving original member. RIP in peace guys & gals, ya'll were & always will be one the best ever !!!
