Been watching Brian for years now. No one can touch him when it comes to describing, teaching, and contextualizing music theory for guitar players. Watched a lot of dudes try it, but they always skip key things, can’t simplify it, or make it sound like they understand things you can’t understand to make themselves look like they are in a secret cool club. Appreciate you Brian for keeping it real.

Ending of a hard day, and Brian and Pink Floyd spots on to sooth the thing. And David is the GREAT example of a guy that uses his hands and way of playing as the fancy part, not weird scales nor weird pedals, just his brain and muscles. Thank you for this class and for the link master!

I don t know the song myself, but the use of graphics and Brian's clear explanations of the chord types (major, major 7 and dom 7 ) would make this a valuable lesson, regardless of the particular music. Such clarity of expression of music ideas that can actually be used is rarer than many might imagine. Also, the demo of the relationship between A major and F# minor scales is clearly put, and of much value. You can solo straight away from the info given here. Wholehearted Thanks to You, Brian!

Oh, wow, Brian, this is GREAT! Yes, I’m biased because this is one of my all-time favorite songs of all time. I loved it when I first heard it as a young teen (just one of those song with both lyrics and music that went deep inside me and took root) and now in my late 50s, it resonates just as profoundly yet in wonderfully different ways. In addition to my own personal connection to this song, this lesson also highlights for me why your channel and the Zombie Guitar website are such valuable resources. Your approach to explaining keys, key signatures, modes, etc., is for me the best and most approachable way to teach and learn them. Thanks so much for all you do. Truly appreciate it! PS - I stopped the video once you mentioned the source of inspiration - Kent Nishimura’s interpretation of the song - and I was blown away. Amazing. I’d seen and heard some of his music before, and he is truly outstanding.

Great vid Brian, thanks so much for sharing. So my question is: did in fact Gilmour think of all that stuff and did it in intentionally while writing this music or he just had the charisma and talent to be able to write such genious compositions and it just came naturally to him and what we are now analysing and discussing comes as a consequence? I'm always puzzled about that.... In another video of yours you say "first i play what sounds good and then i give name to what i played". Is that the case here as well? It's such a riddle for me..... Thanks again...
@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 26 күн бұрын
This fundamental stuff is actually very simple....that is the core message that I am always trying to get across. 1.) Know the key you're in 2.) Play chords from that key 3.) Use the key-scale as your soloing framework 4.) Chord tones are great notes to sustain on Yes, he absolutely did this stuff on purpose, but it's really very simple stuff. I can't stress enough how important it is to get a basic grasp on the fundamentals (aka. what it means to be "in a key"). Beatles songs are MUCH trickier from a theory/song writing standpoint!!

What the heck is your IQ? do you know? To be honest, you are not the best player I have heard on u tube, but your understanding of Guitar is through and complete. I have been playing since I was a teenager and that was a long time ago. I payed for lessons for a year but could not keep up, that is I could not devote enough time to the lessons to gain all the benefits. My instructor was like you, theory first he said I know a lot of cool songs but I don’t know what I am doing. You have reinforced all the lessons I had and more. Last summer I bought a used Les-paul studio and then went to Thailand for six weeks. While there “without my new instumint’ I found your videos. Bought a note book and pencil and tried to learn all I could (without a guitar). I have learned more from you than any other U tuber and defiantly any campfire player I ever played with (best way to start), if not for teachers like you. First thing my instructor said when I told him i never had lessons was “how did you learn to tune the guitar?” One of my favorite Pink Floyd is Money, but I can’t play it all the way though and it is too hard to sing. Short story long. I love your classes. I learn a lot. We are all better off for your help.
