Another excellent lesson Brian. Separating these 2 lessons in this exact way was an excellent way to help people digest all of this. It's the exact same way I learned them and taught them too. Keep up the great work, I can see in comments that it's really helping people. Your logical way of teaching (and using the fret board graphs) makes things easy to understand and eliminates much of the confusion they have had or may go through.

Hey I appreciate it. I see all your comments, and it's cool to see another guitar teacher that follows my stuff. Glad to hear that these vids are helping people!

You've helped me too with the circle of fifths witch is something you are more well versed in than I. So thanks for that. We all have our own strengths and any teacher can learn from another or even their students at times.

Hey Brian do you have any lessons on mode formulas that explain how you got those flats in that G scale
@MelodyMaker4 жыл бұрын
The potential I see for confusion is when folks attempt to simultaneously think "three notes per string" application along with the modified pentatonic box shapes. When instead one needs to be absolute in which method they are going to apply distinctly.
@zombieguitar4 жыл бұрын
I agree, but that's why I try to stress as often as possible that there are only really 2 "layers". 1. The overall key-scale 2. The chord tones
@slammin37542 жыл бұрын
hi i was wondering if there is a pdf anywhere with these scales with the highlighted notes he’s using in the demonstration? thank ya
@zombieguitar2 жыл бұрын
This isn't intended to be a sales pitch, but since you asked...on the Zombie Guitar website, there are "website versions" of every one of these KZbin videos which include the main video, a detailed written lesson (including all the charts, etc) and additional video backing tracks associated with the video!
@greggriffiths9053 Жыл бұрын
Do you have a lesson on key signatures of modes so I can learn know the flats and sharps of each mode I know the scales I don't know the key signatures to make it work for me
@zombieguitar Жыл бұрын
There are only 12 key signatures. Each key signature has 7 different 'perspectives' (aka. "modes"). There aren't any special key signatures for modes....you just have the 12 key signatures, and they are all represented on the outer circle of the circle of 5ths!
@greggriffiths9053 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian I wasn't sure but thanks to you I know circle of fifths I go back to it and do the theory to understand the key signatures.

Very informative Brian. But, please don't ever play that Locrian scale again. No wonder it doesn't get used much. Horrible :) :) Locrian is pretty much how someone would play just randomly hitting notes LOL.
@aylbdrmadison10514 жыл бұрын
The locrian mode is awesome though. In fact if you like metal at all it's essential, because it's basically the minor scale but using the flat five witch is super important in metal from Black Sabbath to Nevermore and beyond. It's also super important to know if you play fusion or jazz and even classical, although used less commonly. All 7 modes (and there are many more to learn after these btw if you really want to spice things up) are important to at least know even if you don't use them.
@aylbdrmadison10514 жыл бұрын
Any mode is all about how you use it. This video has some good examples, although one has a Major 2nd interval. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2q6eoSOlKmZopo The super locrian mode is a more advanced mode that is used fairly frequently in fusion too. Regardless, there are no useless scales, modes, or chords. A good exercise is to find one you don't immediately like, and try to find a way to make it sound good to *your* ears. You may not find anything your ears like, but doing this will help greatly with creativity.
@alonewanderer46974 жыл бұрын
As far as the sound goes I think Ghost uses Locrian a lot and it sounds great
