Not bad! You're a really good player but you're missing a few things. Just an example: the figure at 0:06 (and again at 0:34) should be 5:2 quintuplets over 4/4, not 1/8th notes in 5/8. When that figure repeats at 0:59, THEN it's 1/8th notes in 5/8. I'm not sure why Robert didn't correct you - I'll have to ask him.

@@ConradStClair we are talking about music not math. We are humans not computers. People like a performance if it feels and grooves good, even it might not has mathematical correctnes. That's exakt the approach RM had.
@ConradStClair19 сағат бұрын
@@sheikyerbouti3082 It's supposed to groove AND be correct. Every band Frank ever played it with was able to do it, so there's no reason you shouldn't try. And in this particular example, ignoring the fact that it's supposed to be quintuplets in the spot I mentioned means you're missing an important point of Frank's compositional intent. The first two iterations of that figure are supposed to be different from the third. It's "theme and variations 101", man. I'm just trying to share information, not pick on you for getting something wrong.

@@ConradStClair Yes, this might be the differents between Scott Thunes and us regular folks, who just wear tennis shoes. For me music means joy and fun, no rocket-science.
@ConradStClair18 сағат бұрын
@@sheikyerbouti3082 well, my point is really that you CAN play it correctly if you take a second to work on it. You already know the melody, and playing that line with the correct rhythm isn't very hard. And FWIW, Scott usually just plays the root notes through that section, like it is on the original recording. I play the quintuplets because, like you said, it's about fun and joy. Either way, those should be quintuplets, not 1/8th notes, or you're really missing an important part of the song.

@@ConradStClair BTW: are you the bassplayer of Furious Bongos? If so, your version of zomby woof is absolutly great. 😍😍
