Welcome to Rock Artist Reaction - Sunday!! Artist Name: Zonam Rabbi Country - Lamka, North East, India Genres: Rock / Metal Years Active: 1990s - Present Probably, a lot of people will be unaware of the various tribes that exist in the Indian subcontinent. The band members in particular are from the Zomi community. The Zou people, or Zomi are an indigenous community living along the frontier of India, and Burma (Myanmar) and are also found in Bangladesh. They are a sub-group of the Zo people (Mizo-Kuki-Chin). Also, it is kinda challenging to understand a band's history when you don't understand their language but well this is what I love doing. It's a beautiful feeling to deep dive into different culture's music. I probably might have missed a lot of key information but the fact is as long as you keep your mind and ears open for new sound, music is there for you !! Isn't that amazing to know that Rock music and bands have somehow managed to prevail in this country even though back then almost 80% of the country's population might have never heard of rock music "apparently". I may be wrong but things wouldn't have been that easy in India to sustain as a Rock band in the 90s or early 2000s. Nothing but massive respect for all these musicians who have worked on projects like these. All the links to access the band materials are in the description of this reaction video. Rock on !! For this who don't understand the language, The song is essentially about the artist's hope for positive influence and change from the Western world, particularly through music, in the region where the Zo people reside. However, there's a poignant reflection on disappointment when this desired "change" arrived with destructive elements, such as drugs. It's clear that some musicians, unable to handle the fame and attention, succumbed to drug use, which not only harmed their lives but also tarnished their music. The change he yearned for ultimately arrived in a deceptive form, betraying his hopes. Zonam Rabbi's songs mostly talks about societal issues. They're deep and speaks about the harsh reality. Everyone should listen to them. ❤
