Oud Repair Part 6

I thought getting the neck set correctly would be the most difficult part. Boy was I wrong! Making the pegbox turned out to be a major learning exercise. The results are not perfect but good enough for a first attempt. Next up will be the bridge and then start putting it all back together....

Looks great. A trick for getting rid of those marking holes is to add a dab of superglue to them, mix it with sawdust from the same type of wood, let it dry, and then lightly sand it flush. It'll look like the holes were never there.

My workshop is just too small so no room for multiple camera and tripod setups, etc. I'll try to include more of the 'doing'.

why you don't carve a peg box from a block of wood ? don't you think that will be easier?

Well, this was my first attempt at making a pegbox and I followed the instructions in the book I had (which was the only book I could find on making an Oud). Maybe I can try carving from a solid block in a future project. Cheers, John
