Of course, Brexit was a catastrophe from which the Tories can never recover. Tories were a remain party with some leavers on the grounds of sovereignty. When Brits voted leave, the Tories accepted this decision, and thereby became a party which had renounced any pretence of leadership, all the while pretending there would be economic benefits.

Never been a Tory, probably never will be... but Badenoch's problem is lack of experience and wisdom arising from that. Should have been leader in about 10 years. She has a lot of promise, but she doesn't know what she doesn't know and will never accept that.

Kemi Badenoch is performing admirably. In a recent poll (4 December, FindOutNow) the Tories were the most popular party in the UK. Her speeches are factual, incisive and telling in their impact. Right now, she's the best debater in the Commons. Badenoch is dismantling Starmer and yet for some peculiar reason, you refuse to admit it.

This is a woman so inept that ashe started a fight with David Tennant, botched it, dragged it out, and handled it so badly she started an entirely new fight with Sylvester McCoy. She reeks of something I've seen too often with Tories - They never face the results of their mistakes, never face failure they can't just brush off, and never learn to work up from a disadvantaged position. It's the same damn thing we saw with Sunak, Truss, and so many others.

I dealt with Badenoch when she was a member of the London Assembly a few years ago. She was hopeless then - unfocused, lazy and unable to listen. She spoke mindless platitudes as a substitute for engaging effectively with the real issues. When one scrapes the bottom of the barrel, one gets only the rubbish ! The quality of British politics is at an all time low. But, if the likes of Reform UK gain power, it will sink even lower. IMHO the last honest PM was Harold MACMILLAN, and the last honest MP was Denis SKINNER. Who in all his years, NEVER forgot those he represented. In most cases putting them way before Party. For which he paid the price. Labelled as "the Beast of Bolsover" when he voted against party policies in the interests of his electorate. And finally losing his seat because of a very fickle public unable to see they were being "conned" !
@SocceratesКүн бұрын
My take on Kemi Badenoch - She has had no pushback pretty much ever in her life. She's intelligent enough to get by in her life, and she's insightful enough to manage to navigate her way to where she is. However, she has lived in a bubble where everyone tells her how great and talented she is, and nobody actually challenges her. I feel she believes she is right, doing a great job, and is winning the exchanges at PMQ's. She's blissfully ignorant of how she is embarrassing herself and the party. She's not going to change and if she does survive to the next general election, it'll probably see the Green Party, Reform Uk and the Liberal Democrats, along with the SNP, gaining seats and reducing the Conservative Party to a footnote in history.

Aside from individual personality traits.. I think all politicians are equally cursed.. mostly because they don't really have any vision or desire to address difficult problems. They all preach about how they make the difficult decisions but more frequently duck them... politicians have long memories but short horizons. Your recent volg on housing is quite a good example of the problems we face... we need housing urgently, but no one in any part of the country want large scale housing built next to them. And to counter my own comment, in this specific instance, the Labour government decision to impose will is the only response.. despite short or longer term unpopularity.

She is totally a culture warrior, nothing else beyond that. Like Truss a product of "you can be whatever you desire" upper class education/training even if you are totally useless at it. Starmer who is pretty useless at defending his own policies is lazily running rings around her. Hunt failed in his attempt to destroy the NHS and left Britain unprepared for covid. Jenrick while not dumb enough to start an argument about a sandwich would probably sell out the country for one such is his record for accepting bribes, sorry donations.
