We use this on our two different Python homes. We have the Repti Rain and the heat lamps on the same timer. So when the heat lamps come on, the Repti Rain sprays for 15 seconds. This way the misted area plus the heat lamp area create a nice humidity for them. We were using a spray bottle, but now the kid is in school and isn't around to mist them during the day. This system has improved their shedding quality greatly. Worth every penny to keep Pythons healthy. Also great when we go on vacation and our dog sitter wants nothing to do with our snakes. Did my own troubleshooting since I followed all directions with no spraying. I found that the nozzle at the end of the tube must be closed to suck water into it for the first time, that wasn't in the instructions; you may want to add that.

Excellent tutorial. May I suggest adding 2 things? Suggest setting up hoses before hanging. And to be very gentle when removing the small rubber cap for the hose system as the plastic piece it is a part of breaks very easily. 😢

Zoo Med Laboratories Hey there, my unit is brand new and I am experiencing a leak from the water reservoir. I have the unit mounted inside my terrarium so this isn't a huge problem but sometimes the bottom becomes flooded. Is this a common issue? Also my spray nozzle just kind of squirts instead of making an easy mist. Can i correct this somehow? Additionally, is the 360 rotation spray nozzle supposed to rotate on its own?

Beyond one producing mist and the other producing fog, they are both great ways to introduce humidity into a habitat. It really comes down to personal preference and what works best with your pet's habitat. Hope that helps.

I keep on seeing negative reviews of this product online. A lot of people have complained about it leaking at the connection points (like where the tubes connect). I've also heard that it just leaks in general from the bottom. Some have said that it just stops working after a month? I've also heard that the instruction manual says to send the machine when it's broken to a facility with $40 to fix it? I'm not trying to accuse zoomed of these problems. It's just that I will need to buy one of these soon because I want to get a mountain horned dragon and I just want to know if these problems are true or not.

This will occasionally result in a mister arriving with leftover fluid from testing, but otherwise should operate safely and correctly. Correct! The batteries would act as a power backup to the AC Power Supply. However, note that if you use it this way, it can't be plugged into a timer or controller as the battery power would turn on and negate the purpose of those devices. Hope that answers your question. Take care.

I have it to where the mister is off and the one tube is attached from the top of the tank. It seems there is too much pressure building up in the tube and it pops off. Any ideas?

Try loosening the spray nozzle a bit, if the nozzle is too tight, it may cause excess pressure. If problem persists, try using the two remote nozzles that are supplied rather than the single sprayer to 'divide' the amount of pressure. Hope that helps. The newer version should have a similar remote nozzle extension that the white hose can be applied to. It may vary depending on the type of enclosure, but for habitats with wire tops, we usually use a pen or pencil to make small hole to fit the tube through. You'll have to experiment yourself to see what works best for your unique setup.

It really depends on how your habitat is setup and how often you're using the mister. It may simply evaporate if you're using the mister sparingly, or you can setup something like an aqueduct in your pets habitat with the help of our Hydroballs (links.zoomed.com/vc-10). If you're using it with one of our ReptiBreeze enclosures, you can use one of our ReptiBreeze Substrate Trays to catch the water (links.zoomed.com/nt-11t). The volume doesn’t last but a day for one terrarium on the 15 second- every 12 hours. I have heard that this model burns out after a short time. I would totally disagree that they are not useful for going on vacation. I think you would be better off rigging up a household humidifier to your set up through an R/O system to replenish the water supply. Then plugging the humidifier and R/O system to a household timer and calling it a day.

I am on my second one of these since January 2017. The first one leaked constantly out of the bottom as soon as we filled it for the first time. I returned it for a new one. The new one has worked until now, April 2017. The red light stays on but it does not mist and the motor doesn't even seem to turn on any more. I am disappointed with the product.

The larger the better. It's up to you to make sure they are happy and are capable of maneuvering their habitat with little difficulty. We personally have ours in a medium-sized ReptiBreeze enclosure.

Spot cleaning is the best way to keep up with Excavator cleaning. Adding a top layer of another substrate that is easily replaceable is another great way to keep Excavator clean.

Hey I got the exchanged one and tried it out well it does not leak when its off but when you turn it on it rains. When will this thing actually work like the video? No water ever get to the mister but lots of water made it to the top of my dresser again. Thanks again zoomed for the flood. So I am going to return this one and I want the monsoon mister maybe that actually works. I will be calling you tomorrow Zoomed. Also I ordered it from Dr. Foster and Smith online. I am trying not to get to angry about this but when you make two attempts and they both fail you can't help but get a little pissed off about it.

My reptirain broke as well after the first hour lol. I have a drip under the misting side that won't go away. I pulled it out of the box followed the instructional video and used distilled water and the moment the water entered the reservoir it began to leak. I waited for an hour for the leak to stop thinking I was the cause of the leak because I was like maybe I spilled but I know I didn't. As my dresser top began to fill with water it was at this moment I knew my reptirain was defective out of the box. All I ask for is a little quality control people. I waited like 2 weeks for this piece to show up and that's what I get. Well Zoo Med you guys normally do a pretty good job but this one was a serious disappointment in my book. I can only hope you guys can make it better some how. "
