GPS coordinates: 48.68607, -72.51473
Website: zoosauvage.org/
The Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien is located in the Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec.
This zoo differs from other zoos by allowing certain species of animals to coexist in habitats that resemble their natural habitats as much as possible. It has nearly 1000 animals representing more than 80 species.
The Nature trails park can be visited aboard a small wire mesh train. The 7-kilometer course allows us to discover several animals that live there in semi-freedom, including black bears, caribou, wolves, bison, moose, elk, prairie dogs, etc.
A 4.5 km hiking trail has been divided into seven sectors: the arctic tundra, Asia, the mixed forest, Mongolia, the mountains of North America, the mountains of Africa as well as the small farm.
This trail allows us to discover at our own pace several other animal species such as polar bears, brown bears, Canada lynx, cougars, love tigers, camels, wolverines, river otters, foxes, Japanese macaques, porcupines , beavers, eagles, snowy owls, etc.
This site is truly exceptional, very well maintained and the animals are in perfect health. It is also ranked among the ten most beautiful zoos in the world.
It is advisable to allow 4 to 5 hours to make a complete visit of the Zoo and this is exactly the time it took us to make the complete tour of the site.
There is also a restaurant, a sandwich shop, a creamery, two shops and water games on site.
