I just want to add something - as a psychiatrist, I can vouch for the near-psychotic patter of Jerry resembling that of schizophrenics, especially paranoid schizophrenic patients. This is hard to capture unless one has studied this kind of speech very closely. How amazing the writing is. Albee really nailed it.

Really good rendition. A far more believable Jerry than I'm used to, which is refreshing. Thanks for posting!

It's so weird, when I read the script I thought it was a very sad and anxiety filled story. But in action, I suppose it is quite humorous.

I've just been cast as Peter in a local production and I really like this piece. Jerry is very vulnerable. Peter played with real calmness and a sense of incredulity at Jerry's ramblings. A good insight for me as I come to learn lines. Thanks for posting.

And thank you for your comment. I've tried to post all of my plays here online so that they can serve as good starting points for actors to then strike out on their own choices :) Break a leg!

+Karl Erickson - Again thank you. I put these up as a learning resource more than anything so it's nice to hear some nice feedback instead of being personally attacked. Appreciate it!

My all time favorite play, but (sadly) have never seen it performed. This is exactly how I read Jerry in the script!

Its funny how many versions start with Jerry speaking or Shouting "Ive been to the zoo". Peter would hear it straight away yet he ignors Jerry. good bench though

Playing jerry in an open voice theatre with the script in my hand, the ear is Indian, should I do it without the script, keeping in mind the audience is Indian.

Jerry's pressured speech and flight of ideas and loose associations and neologisms are also consistent with bipolar disorder.

I don't understand why the audience is laughing this much. It's distracting. This masterpiece is a very serious play and even though there are some parts here and there that are funny, it talks about a very serious issue.

All audiences react differently. Some night they laugh, some nights there's not a peep, it's the magic of live theater.

Great performances. Updating the authors name to Stephen King took me out of it for a minute. I don't get why they did that.

The audience decides early that they want this to be about two fools so that they can feel superior to them ( after all they are two men,) and since the actors are lousy and rarely know what their character actually want the thing plays like a sloppy pointless, harmless comedy routine...
