@Matthew Stenzel Exactly. In late 1999 PBS programs were required to add "Thank You" after their fundings. ZOOM shortened it to "Thanks". Before that they didn't say it.

ZOOMfan1 It was kinda startling when they changed it if you were only used to season one's credits. Anyways, it's really interesting looking through here and seeing how these credits were slowly dumbed down over time. The first few seasons' have a tone that feels mature and meaningful, but then they start to speed them up and by the last season it's dumbed down to the point where the music and the classic black background are the only things keeping it from being completely kiddish and generic.

***** I prefer 5-7's fundings over 3 and 4. It costs more money to digitally impose ZOOMers with the credits than filming them holding cardboard. I sort of expected them to do that after a while and I was right.

When I was a kid, I never understood why Season 1 was the only season where the Zoomers never shouted thanks after they said Viewers Like You, but now I think I know the reason why. At the time when the Zoomers recorded the Season 1 funding credits, the phrase Viewers Like You was that and or with the exception of the voice over of other PBS programs saying: "This program was made possible by the annual financial support of Viewers Like You." In November of 1999, (after the Season 1 funding credits was recorded) the phrase was changed to this: "This program was made possible by contributions to your PBS station by Viewers Like You. Thank you." That, in my opinion, is the reason why they never shouted thanks. Don't you think so, too?
