My head is spinning!!! I've owned three of this same device, all lost or 1 stolen. I really liked the quality and I really don't understand all this technical audio talk which I find very frustrating. I still liked the quality of my recording as a singer, so maybe it doesn't matter, but damn, I'm a singer, not a techie!! But thanks for the video. Whats generally better audio, using the audio from the Zoom card, or recording with the wire into the camera, such as the camera in this example? Im currently listening on a mobile device and its difficult to tell the difference. is there much difference? Direct to camera would be more convenient in many situations.

Great review! But I have a question.. How well does the auto-level feature work? I'm going to be using it in singing lessons (where I will sing - high volume, and talk - low volume) so this is quite an important feature for me. Thanks!

Thanks! The Auto level works very well. I don't personally use it, as I usually set the input level manually.

The mic plugs into the dslr using the headphone output jack on the Zoom H1. You will need a 3.5mm male to male audio cable.

Set your zoom H1's input level to 100%. Set the output level to about 80%. Then adjust your dslr's sound level till you find the best balance of quality and sound loudness. Please subscribe

+fervlogg It doesn't have a charger. You can get a usb cable for it. But that only lets it work as a usb mic. The batteries power it for all other recording modes.
