Lovely! Came for the Zoom, stayed for the combo. Now I need Monologue myself.
@telantas3 жыл бұрын
I own a Monologue and couldn't be happier with it. That said, all the Monologue contributes to this particular video is a sawtooth wave with a decay-sustain-release envelope -which many synths can give you. I would be curious to know how the same effects would sound with another synth.It may be that the warmth and quality of the Monologue's sawtooth oscillator actually makes a difference. Alternatively, a sawtooth is just a sawtooth...

@@telantas I have a CDR-70 a Monologue, a sub 37, a OP-1, a Alesis Ion, a Roland JP-08 and a Herbs and Stone - Liquid Foam. The pedal sounds great on most Saw Tooth patches, and Pad Patches. Like he said the delays in the CDR-70 are pretty great for a under $100 pedal. I wish the CDRs bit crusher, ring mod and more glitch effects were better. But it does "lush" very well.

I just got my MS70-CDR last week and I love what it does for my synths. In the case of your monologue it sort of makes it a paraphonic synth instead of monophonic, for when you want that. Thanks for the video. I'm still learning this thing.

Under the hood, MS-50g, MS-70cdr, MS-60b and the G1Xon are all the same engine. The G1Xon includes an expression pedal, drums and a looper but is otherwise the same. The patches are interchangeable. The MS-50g is setup to be the most diversified out of the box but the others can share patches without any problems.

I paired a Boss RV6 with a Dübreq Stylophone Gen X-1 once and you'd be amazed how much that already alters the sound and making it even more massive. Especially if you turn on the sub oscillator of it and add a little bit of its own delay. Adding an effect pedal really almost always values-up an instrument and really makes you realize how essential a multi-effect device is in your little studio.

I thought you wrote "vocals"...the problem with stomp box reverbs compared to rack reverbs is that they are all 16 or 18 bit and the rack gear is all 24 bit today. Also the A/D and D/A converters don't sound as good on cheap gear. But if the end track or gig sounds good, then these technical matters don't really matter. I use an old 16 bit zoom rack verb because I like the tone of it of it, which has a lot to do with it's converters.

odd?, i recorded a synth volca bass creation with the zoom ms 70, basic delay and reverb only and it sounded awful. a dirty, distorted sound and it wasn't my input/recording levels. i retried with my simple donner delay and the results were much better. i'm now finding something dubious about the zoom performance, a lot of the presets are over the top and i think you have to watch out when chaining a few together. whet through most of the effects and didn't like the majority. maybe my synth rates (wobble?) were just totally out of sync with the effects rates although i turned everything down to about half on the zoom. also watched with interest your zoom vs polara shoot out - very revealing! i also had a chorus on my original zoom chain which i turned off before recording because it sounded so bad to my ear. i also have a line select at the beginning of the chain so i can turn everything off quickly. i wonder if that could be the culprit for the grating sound? thanks again.

@@MFKR696 no, not really, not if you don't want to. But while you're in the business of questioning my transparency and integrity, here's the full run-down: I have never been paid directly, in cash money, by any gear manufacturer for a video (and given the size of my channel, I very much doubt I ever will). To this day, the only gear I've featured on my channel that I received gratis from a manufacturer was the Arturia Minibrute 2S and DrumBrute. I detailed that fact in the first video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laXKg52HnM1_jKc and subsequently it's noted in every video description of any video that either bit of gear was featured in. My Minilogue I received from Korg as payment for a patch pack I created for them for the Monologue. You can find that patch pack here: www.korg.com/uk/news/2019/0322/ That is the sum total of all the engagements I've had with manufacturers and distributors. Also, just ask yourself the question: why would Zoom engage with a channel with 12k subs to feature a 5 year old pedal? Not everyone is out to mislead you. Not everyone is a corporate shill. Seems that Halloween is now a official holiday in a small bavarian village and DHL does not work so good then... And also not Friday because, hey its only one day.... :) Yes I mean Treppendorf DHL! @Thomann's Guitars & Basses kzbin.info/door/tvgPVBJ_r1vjN4mRuHCbog

Can you choose one effect at a time. I read somewhere that someone said that one effect coludn't be selected at a time
@OscillatorSink2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean just having a single "virtual pedal" active so it acts like a "normal" pedal? If so: sure, you can do that. Let me know if that's not what you're asking though.

@@OscillatorSink Hi I have an old Ensoniq SQ80 synth and it has no built in effects. All I'm say is can you choose one effect at a time. Just say you wanted to add chorus to a patch

I don't know if mine has a fault or whether I just can't figure out how to do it, but I can't save anything to the memory slots. I tried following what it says in the manual, but it's so vague it's not much help. What process do you follow to save patches?
@OscillatorSink5 жыл бұрын
From the main view (where you can see the picture of the pedal) Press the middle button (presets) Press the left button (Store) Turn the middle button to choose which slot (Dest) Press the left button (Enter). Obviously you can also change the name, but that there will store a preset. I'm running the v2 firmware so it might be different if you haven't upgraded (but you should definitely upgrade as you get loads of new effects). Hope that helps

@@OscillatorSink I do have the v2, thanks for this.

Is it just me or does my MS70 clip or distort? I noticed it in the reverb pedal so far.
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
If you hit it with very loud signals it might, but it works fairly well with line level in my experience. Where you might get clipping if if you're using multiple effects within the Zoom, one after another which boost the overall signal. Cascading some of the louder, more effected delays and reverbs, or some of the more resonant modulation effects can lead to clipping happening within the pedal. You can lower the output of individual effects to counter that.

@@OscillatorSink Thank you. I thought I tried just the reverb pedal and didnt think I pushed the volume too high. I'll double check but thanks for feedback. I'll let you know how it goes

Okay, now I’m really undecided between this one and the korg nts-1... Any advice can be gold
@OscillatorSink4 жыл бұрын
The Zoom is better for tweaking and exploring sounds, the NTS-1 is great for set and forget. Both offer a wide range of effects once you start importing user fx to the NTS-1. The Zoom allows you to use more fx at once.

Oscillator Sink thank you so much! I kinda searching an effects box for my travel setup composed by an op-z and a volca fm, with a keystep for play more “pianisticaly”. Which one do you suggest so between the two?
@OscillatorSink4 жыл бұрын
I'd probably go NTS1 in that setup - also, you know, it's a capable synth too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXq3l4KAmtOgaMk
