Just bought a Podtrak P8. I haven't even set it up, yet. I've been using a a Behringer Xenyx502 since I started podcasting 3 years ago. I went with the Zoom over the Rode mostly because the savings and shallow learning curve. Now, I'm devouring videos on all the tips and tricks. Thanks for the info.

how does the lack of 48 khz sampling affect the live stream, and youtube videos?
@DEHEK3 жыл бұрын
Good stuff mate, hopefully I'll be able to use the same settings as you can get the same look! I'm having trouble using my ZOOM PodTrak P8 and ManyCam together. I trying to sync the voice with the video when broadcasting live, I have done some sync offset with the audio inputs and it is ok however the video is still jumpy and have not get the same look as you. I will give it ago with your settings and see how I get on.

Hi, I'm not a tech guy but I understand your problem is due the fact the podtrak 8 samples audio at 44.1khz and not 48khz, which is video standard
@DEHEK3 жыл бұрын
@@arriagatwo777 thank you for your comment I'm not entirely sure that is the problem because what I have done is run a cable from my ZOOM PodTrak P8 into the camera and delayed the video by 220ms and the problem has gone away. However I have watched other videos and find it hard to understand why zoom decided to make the ZOOM PodTrak P8 record in 44.1khz and not 48khz, as I'm sure this is not helping.

Ordered a Podtrak P8 but it hasn't arrived yet. (Back ordered) I seen some comparisons to the Rode versions, but believe that the P8 should give me a good start. Thanks for the tips, using a phone for sound boards seems to give more versatility and may not need to worry about deleting them off of the SD card

Great video !! i am watcghing this as i have a podcast and i had a "producer" add sounds to the soundpads yet iyb would take him too long to do it and i want to learn myself how to add sounds.What in your opinion would be the easiest way to record sounds too soundpads. This undertaking is more problematic being i consider myself tech illiterat

Lovely to hear a few tips and tricks without being in a rush! Question. On the podtrak p8, can you record to sd and to a pc/mac simultaneously? Is there a huge difference between the stereo mix and what you can do with individual mic tracks?? i'll be using reaper DAW. likely on an imac 2021 m1.

I did a podcast and have a P8. The multi track recording to the P8 SD card was nice for muting general noise on the different channels and leveling the inputs. 3 mics live and a caller on USB. I usually used Audacity and also Divinci.

Have you used the auto-mix function? its sort of a better replacement of a compressor/limiter...

Greetings Technology, I’ve just acquired the Zoom PodTrak P8. All-in-All it’s a good unit-save one issue I have a question about. While the preamp noise floor can be low (depending upon which dynamic / condenser mic is used), it can add quite a bit of noise when the compressor / de-esser is on. So… Q. Although there is 70dB of gain, have you tried using a ‘mic activator’ with a dynamic mic so the mic preamp gain can be lowered and, thus, when turning on the compressor / de-esser the noise won’t be so prominent? yYM

I recently bought the P8 but when I try to record multiple mics into Adobe Audition using the P8 as an audio interface, both mics output to both tracks. I am using the ASIO4ALL driver and the Zoom ASIO driver and when I choose the P8 mic 1 for track one and P8 mic 2 for track two, no matter which mics you speak into both tracks pick it up. Can you help? I've been trying to overcome this for about a week.

Have you received an answer to this that isn't posted? I JUST got mine on a Cyber Monday sale and I fully plan on using Adobe Audition but I can still return it if they aren't seeming to be compatible! Hope they are! Please let us know.

@@AdamAVernier Yeah, set your mic channels to record in mono rather than stereo. It still plays equally out of both speakers but to the same master track.

Overall! What is your opinion on this unit since you have had it. Does this unit surpass the rodecaster pro? Also, what microphone do you recommend
@technologuy48403 жыл бұрын
It's still a long answer for me on that question... it really does depend on use. If Zoom adds the option for better noise reduction... it will be no contest for me... because certain situations.. especially in a noisy environment, the Rodecaster shines with that. Overall.. I like the Podtrak better, way more portable... and using it 90% of the time. I am using Zoom ZDM-1 mics at the moment. Very budget friendly...and have to use the term 'good enough' for 99.9% of what the Podtrak's intended use is. Tried the Podmic... don't care for it even though everyone else on the Tube seems to think it's the best $100 mic ever. Just has too much of a tinny sound to me. I have also used a couple of condenser mics.. an Audio Technica and a Presonus.. both worked well. I agree with Dave below.. the QU2 is a really good alternative.. especially when you can just use it USB and still get great sound. There are so many great mics and it really comes down to what sound you like with your voice.

@And Another Thing, with Dave We currently use the Podmic with RCP and your partially right. what i mean by that is it doesnt sound well with some voices.. We currently have 4 of them and one of the guys sounded a little off with any of the mics I tried all kinds of settings for him but it wasnt quite right.. we tried a Audio-Technica ATR2100X-USB and he was fine.. but for the rest of us it sounded good..

@And Another Thing, with Dave Zoom has more XLR input but inferior preamp, inferior audio quality, inferior build quality and need to buy BTA separately..
@TheDLJonesShow3 жыл бұрын
@And Another Thing, with Dave from what I've read, and I haven't tried this myself. the Zoom Podtrak has an issue with sound when it comes to the monitor headphone out. but that has no effect on the actual recording, only what you hear when you plug in a headphone. maybe the people that say it has inferior sound may be confusing that with the actual sound. like I said I haven't tried it as I rarely use a headphone plugged in (maybe I should lol). From being a new podtrack owner, the only thing I really envy is the Rodecaster pro sound pads and the rodecaster seem to go a step further as far as what you can do with the sound (limiter, compressor etc) but I really think either one is good. I love the podtrak so far
