If you wanted to, you could us the main left and right out for a monitor send to the control room, or to your talent. It is your decision on how you want to run that. It does pose some issues doing that, and you could introduce latency for the speakers. You could also introduce feedback and loop back into the mics. Hey there! Because this recorder has optional battery power functions, it can certainly be used for outdoor recording. Yes, the main out can be run to stage speakers without any problems. You could certainly use this mixer with a live band if you needed to, although, this is going to be best made for recording podcasts. Hey can I connect a mixer to this zoom unit on my pc so they work together ?

Hello, Alan! The PodTrak P8 is an eight channel interface, so you can use it to bring eight channels into your computer at the same time. Now, if you do need more than eight channels total, you could patch an output from your mixer into an input on the PodTrak. If you did that, all of the channels on the mixer would be summed into one. @@sweetwater hi thanks. I really cant understand this, I thought if it was an 8 channel mixer then it would need 8 line inputs, I can only see mic inputs. I want to use it on a daw particularly to mix 2 separate channels, for example as used in radio, maybe play it live or similiar. I was advised also that it is the same as the rodecast with just 1 channel and no good for what I need ? Thanks for advice. Alan.

I think Rode has been dominating the Podcasting Land as of the moment. The Rodecaster Pro has been killing it in sales, and I think It's good that Zoom has step up... but IMO I think they are a bit too late on this one. The Good thing is zoom is a little bit cheaper than the Rodecaster Pro. But again the community has been loving that ever since.

Hey, Ejay. That is a great question. The Zoom P8 cannot currently live stream through the board directly. That feature is really intended to be done via a Mac/PC. This unit does have a lot of flexibility and can record straight to the device. It also makes it easy to integrate your phone for calls and interviews. Hi Sweetwater, I’ve been looking to record music with something like this because of the simplicity, I play in a trio and need something that can do up to 6 mic’d at once. Is there any reason you wouldn’t recommend this?

Great question, and thanks for reaching out! You can multitrack record up to 6 tracks on an SD card and then import those tracks to your DAW. However, if you run it as an interface it's 2-in and 2-out via USB, so you will only be able to record the summed stereo track and not multitrack.
